Being a housewife comes with many benefits that I’m sure we can all agree are pretty awesome.
However, there is always going to be some “free time” that most wives don’t capitalize on.
Once they get a break, it’s straight to Instagram and Facebook when we all know that the bathtub could use a nice scrubbing.
Or, you can always help with the finances and get a nice little j-o-b.
But that takes away the whole housewife role, right?
Well, that is a good thing that we have the internet and most especially jobs that can be done right from your couch or even your car.
So for those of you who are looking to do a little more than posting that boomerang of what you had for lunch, here is a nice list of free work at home jobs that I’m sure will help you use your time wisely.
Email Support
If you have ever had an issue with a product from a company, you may have reached out to them via email for support. When this happens, the matter is not always handled in house.
Some companies use satellite email support employees to handle customer service matters.
That could be you! These jobs are not extremely easy to come by, but if you find the right one it will supply you with a steady stream of work that may just be lucrative enough to turn into your main gig.
Editing
There is a big market out there on the world wide web for freelance editors. This is a skilled position which means that you are going to need to be extremely proficient in grammar and syntax, but if this does describe you the potential to make a decent living is certainly there.
Because this is a freelance position, you will be responsible for finding all of your own clients, but assuming that you can figure out how to attain steady work, the freelance editor can enjoy a solid income.

Writing
Freelance writing is also a skilled position, and it also requires you to find your own clients continuously.
However, there is a lot of work to be had out there in that field. Think of how many blogs and websites exists in the world. Literally billions of them. Do you know who writes for these blogs and websites?
Freelance bloggers and writers.
Pay for this job is limited only by what you are able to successfully ask for your work. Talented writers that land big accounts are often very capable of earning a comfortable living from the comfort of their own home.

Authority Blog
Maybe you want to write, but you don’t want to write for someone else. Making money from your own blog is entirely possible, even if it might take some time to make it happen.
There are lots of routes you can take with professional blog writing, but one of our favorites may just be the authority site.
Why is this one of our favorites? The authority site allows the writer to cover a subject that they truly care about. If you are a stamp collector, your website could be all about a love for stamps. If you are a golfer, it could be all about your love for golf.
Authority site moderators make their money through ad revenue, as well as through affiliate marketing commissions that are earned anytime someone buys a product that they recommend.
This is going to be a harder domain to find success in, but if you can manage to make it work, chances are you will be glad you did.
Data Entry
Data entry is less exciting than most of the options on this list, but what it lacks in excitement it makes up for in steady consistency.
The job of the data entry professional is pretty simple: take company data (be it from spreadsheets, emails, or other documents) and enter it into their system per the instructions of the organization.
There are a lot of positions out there like this in the world, with a variety of corresponding salaries.
Reputable companies will pay wages similar to that of low ranking office positions, but do be careful where you apply. Some companies hire only outsourced freelancers that are willing to work for pennies on the dollar.

Survey Taker
Taking surveys is never going to be the main way that you make money (or at least we hope that it isn’t).
The way that this job works is pretty much exactly how it sounds.
You take surveys online covering a variety of different things, and for your contribution to the world of big data, you are rewarded a few dollars, or perhaps even the occasional gift card.
Most people who go into this field use it as a side hustle that they work on anytime they are idle. It is a nice easy way to make extra spending money during TV commercials or when you are waiting for something to get out of the oven.
Do be careful where you take your surveys though, some sites are known for not paying out as promised.
Transcriber
The job of the transcriber is also what it sounds like it would be. For this field you will listen to audio, and then type it out in an easy to read format.
It sounds really simple, but there actually is a lot of skill involved. For one thing, if you are going to stay competitive in this field, you will need to be an extremely quick typist.
Companies are not going to want to hire you if you can only do half the work of the other applicants.
You also have to be extremely accurate with your typing. Errors kill your words per minute rating, and, if left uncorrected, ruin the value of the document you are drafting as well.
However, if you are skilled enough for this field, it is a fairly easy and comfortable way to earn steady money.

Tutor
Are you wicked smart? How about you use those brains to the betterment of a student, and the betterment of your wallet.
Online tutors can make a lot of money helping people excel in the subjects that they have authority on. There is a wide market for sites that connect tutors with tutees. Some require proven qualifications and skills tests, while others do not.
If you have, or are working on a degree in the subject that you want to tutor it is going to help a lot.
However, if you do not have a degree but are still sufficiently proficient, you should be able to find work.

Social Media Monitor
Often times, businesses do not have the internet prowess to manage their own social media relations. In these instances, they hire out to professionals that can boost their online presence, and draw attention to them through social media.
Does that sound like something that you would be good at? If so, this inbound marketing task could make you some good money.
Social media consulting can be highly lucrative, and members of the selfie generation may find that it is easy work.

Website Tester
Contrary to how the title sounds, you don’t actually have to be a web expert to become a website tester.
In fact, most places don’t want that. The goal of the website tester is to see how well a website is designed for the average viewer.
Is it easy to get around? Is the important information placed front and center? Website testers are generally just average, every day internet explorers that get paid to surf new websites, and then take surveys detailing their feedback.
It’s easy work if you can get it, and it’s often fun and interesting.
Virtual Assistant
The virtual assistant position can vary pretty radically depending on who you are working for. Generally speaking, the virtual assistant may be expected to send and monitor emails, draft schedules, make appointments, and really do anything else that the hiring professional requires.
These are often full time, longer term contracts which means it will be a great opportunity for people who are trying to earn a consistent living.
Becoming a virtual assistant is also fairly easy but will usually require some personal information before you can commit to the job.

Call Center
The dreaded call center. When people think work from home jobs, this is what often comes to mind. There is nothing inherently wrong with the call center position, but for most people it isn’t a lot of fun.
Have you ever had a problem with something that you bought from a major company, and then had to contact them through the phone for support?
You may have been connected to an in-house customer service professional, or, it might have been a freelancer like yourself that you were yelling at.
People aren’t always nice to call center personalities, but if you have a thick skin the gig might work for you.
Delivery Service
Ok, technically you are going to have to leave the house for this one, but we include it here because the work is self monitored, and self driven.
There are loads of websites and services out there that allow patrons to place food orders at ordinary restaurants like Taco Bell, and then have that food delivered to them by an outsourced professional.
As a delivery service freelancer you will pick food up, and deliver it right to the customers door.
Profit margins are usually pretty thin with this gig if you aren’t making decent tips, but it is an easy way to make money during your idle hours.
You might also be interested in delivering for Amazon as their service is definitely on the rise.

The Driver
Similar to working in delivery, you can, of course, also work as a self monitored driver. Lyft, Uber, and other websites now make it very possible to run your own cabby business that operates whenever you want it to.
This field actually can be very lucrative, but it takes a special kind of person to make it work. If you are patient, social, and well versed in the roads of your community, it may be a great opportunity for you.
Multilevel Marketing (MLM)
Multi level marketing is another classic example of a work from home opportunity that leaves a bad taste in some people’s mouth.
Think Tupperware. The job of the MLM affiliate is to sell product for a commission. If you have ever been to a Tupperware, or jewelry party hosted by a friend or relative, you know what we are talking about here.
MLMs are legitimate earning opportunities, but most people fail at it. Why? You have to be really good with sales, and with people to make it work.
If that sounds like you, you may want to give it a try.

Illustration
Another skilled position. If you are talented at graphic design, or other forms of illustration there is a fairly big market out there for you.
Work from home illustration jobs give you the opportunity to do what you love in a lucrative and very flexible way.
Assuming your work is good enough to land you jobs consistently, this can also provide a steady stream of income.
Pet Sitting
This is a work from home job that has an in person element to it that won’t appeal to the freelancer who is looking for privacy. Or the freelancer who has pet dander allergies.
Pet sitting is actually very lucrative—and very easy work. There are plenty of websites out there that will connect you with people in your community that would like to have their pets watched while they go to work.
Depending on the size of your home, and the level of your patience, you may be able to take several clients on, and make a decent living just taking dogs out for the occasional walk.

Search Engine Evaluators
This position is like the website tester one, but for search engines. The idea here is going to be to give search engines detailed feedback on the expediency and straightforwardness of their engine.
Once again, experts are not needed (and frankly, probably not wanted).
If you are an average Google user that sometimes wishes their searches garnered better results this gig could be for you.
Search engine testing won’t provide constant work, but it is an easy way to supplement your income.
Book Reviews
Love reading? What if you could get paid for it? In our last category, we have the remote book reviewing job.
While your reviews probably will not enjoy the same wide spread audience as those of say Roger Ebert (yes, we know he did mostly film) they will still get read, and more importantly, you will still get paid for them.
How much money you can make with this work will vary pretty radically. However, with the right opportunity, you can make a steady living, and find an extremely valid excuse to get caught back up on your reading, which is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

What “Job” Really Works For You?
In the world of the internet and yanking money from it, there are thousands upon thousands of different kinds of work that you can do to make some extra money.
Some will always pay more than others but I will always recommend you start your own online business.
If working for someone is not really your thing, you might want to look into doing some affiliate marketing and/or creating your own blog.
With the amount of users on the internet these days, there is just too much opportunity, especially when you are simply selling other people’s products.
Be Scam Smart
With the many opportunities on the net comes an even greater risk for scam and fraud.
So before you embark on your new job title, here are some tips that you might want to read so that you don’t become another victim
First, if someone is hiring then that should mean that you pay $0 to get started.
I have been coming across so many “jobs” that are asking its employees to pay before they can work and that is a big fat no-no when it comes to jobs.
It’s understandable if you are going to learn how to start an online business or something but if you are simply going to work for someone then you should not have to pay.
Period.
Next thing you need to understand is that there are many “job” type sites out there that are free to join but is actually a recruiting type of program that will make you money for sharing your personal link.
That is not a job and there is no job like that out there.
What these scammers will do is try to take your information after you join the site just so they can use it against you.
They will try to get into your PayPal account so they can transfer money into their bank accounts.
And if that doesn’t work, they will try to get into other accounts you may have.
That my friend is what they call a phishing scam and it is mostly popular with emails that claim you have just won some kind of money.
Don’t believe their nonsense and don’t be gullible as unless you actually bought a lottery ticket of some sort then I can promise you that you did not win anything.
Lastly, do not fall for nonsense.
If something seems too good to be true then guess what?
It most likely is.
“Make $10k in a month”
Anything that seems out of this world is usually a scam so don’t fall for anything like that either.
Other than the jobs mentioned in this post, just use trusted sites like Ziprecruiter, Monster.com, or Flexjobs to find your next employer.
