Ever wanted to start a blog and make money with it?
I didn’t.
Unlike you, I was only into the whole “make money online” part.
I tried many different types of methods, and could not have failed any faster.
All that failing happened, up until I found out about this whole blogging thing.
I now work from home and I am very much a full-time blogger.
Not the path I intended but with the fact that you can make some really good money has changed everything.
My journey has taken me to places I never thought possible and I would like to share them with you today.
But before we get into the meat and taters, let me give you more on what it took to get me here.
I am Not a Writer and I Never Planned on Starting a Blog
My start in the online world was a big mess.
In debt and still trying to figure out how to legitimately make money from the internet like everyone else was doing.
Come to find out that a lot of these people “making money online” were actually only making money by having you purchase their course that led to nothing.
$7 here, $47 there and nothing seemed to work.
All this experimenting (if that’s what you want to call it) led me to this thing called blogging.
After failing over and over again, telling my other half how this was the one, I finally decided to put in the work, which I believed was the only way to make a living online.
I knew nothing about websites and I knew nothing about writing.
The only thing I knew was that I wanted to make my living on the internet and if it was through blogging then so be it.
That’s what I was going to do.
Now let me just tell you that the first few (maybe even first 100) articles were nothing but complete garbage.
We’re talking about stuff that you would shake your head to because it was just that bad.
Did that stop me?
Of course not.
This has all lead up to this site and my new career as an online marketer/blogger.
I’m sure you’re not like me and you’re probably like, “hey, I can write” so I’m sure I can make this work.
Of course and that’s why I want to help you.
But before you dive into this headfirst I want to make a few things clear so you don’t go bashing me later on down the road because you didn’t make money in your first week.
Things You Need to Know Before Starting Your Blog
If you can understand these simple things you will have no problem finding success online as a blogger and I’m sure you will find yourself doing it full-time in the process.
There are certain things that we go through as a blogger and most people quit because no one ever tells them the facts.
I’m not no one and I want to tell you like it is so that you have no hidden surprises down the line.
You will not make money overnight
I’m sure you’ve seen that at some point online and of course it got you curious.
If you gave into it, I’m sorry.
I did too and I didn’t learn my lesson the first, second, or even third time around.
Yes, I am what they call “hard headed”.
I did learn though and that is why I know that you can’t make money overnight unless you invest and do something about it.
Time, Money, and ultimately, both.
Patience is a Must
Blogging is not for those who aren’t willing to wait.
Too many people come in thinking that they’re going to make money from one blog post alone, but that’s just not how it works.
Your overall site/blog is going to work as one and every post is going to make the difference in whether or not you make money.
You Can Only Fail if You Quit
Everyone comes in, gets a lot done within the first few months, and quit because they’re not seeing results.
Don’t become another statistic.
Forget about the money early on and do what it takes to make that money.
Get work done and trust me, the money will follow.
If you can understand these simple things then I want to show you the same exact steps that I took to building a successful blog.
Getting Started Can Be Confusing
Scouring the web for creating a blog will only leave you confused, discouraged and ultimately having some of you squash the whole idea.
Get trained here.
Learn more there.
Get a domain here.
Get hosting there.
There is just so much information out there and every blogger and online marketing guru will show you their technique and strategy.
In most cases, the ones you will run into are incomplete and outdated and I know how frustrating it can be to jump from one site to the other just to have ONE blog up and running.
This is the very reason I go to the Wealthy Affiliate for all my blogging needs.
There is nothing like it and I’m sure you’ll enjoy what they have to offer.
Every Blog Starts With a Passion
Blogging is cool and all, but you need to remember that this is going to be the foundation for something that you are very much interested in.
If it’s photography, that will work too.
You either know a lot about it or you show a very strong interest in it.
Whatever the case may be, either one will work but you do need to stay in your lane.
If you’ve ever learned anything about blogging from somewhere else and they told you to look for something profitable I want you to pretend that you never saw that.
Go back to the basics and pick something you are truly passionate about or have a very strong interest in learning.
Chasing the money will only leave you looking for the next best way to making money online.
Every Business Starts With a Beautiful Website
After figuring out that interest, it’s time to come up with a name and put it down on some online real estate.
Yup, your very own website.
Building a website is beyond easy these days so forget about any crazy computer coding it took to create one because things have changed.
Almost every website builder comes with a drag and drop feature or simple “click here” to make changes.
There are a bunch of free websites that you can get, but I always recommend the Site Rubix platform when it comes to blogging.
You get two free sites, but there is a bunch of other reasons why I recommend there over Godaddy or Wix for all your website needs.
As a blogger, there’s a lot that is put into a site and that my friend is the best website builder for people like you and me.
This site right here is built off of that platform and I’m sure you can agree that this is a nice and simple blog, right?
lol.
I know some of you might be like, John there is nothing special about this and it’s actually too simple in my opinion.
That’s what I used to think until I learned the tricks of the trade.
People come to see your content so keep it about that or you will lose them.
Have too much going on and you can expect to distract your readers and ultimately losing them for the reason they are on your site in the first place.
Write for your audience, always.
Time to Blog
Now that all that technical stuff is out of the way, it’s time to do what we came here for.
Blogging and creating content.
Content that will get you traffic.
A lot of it.
I’m sure you know that you will not make any money with your first few posts, so keep moving forward and blog your behind off.
Having a blog focused on what you’re interested in will have you writing for days and you will have a legitimate online business that will keep feeding your bank account for years.
This of course leads into the last step and the ultimate goal for every online entrepreneur.
Making Money – The Fun Part
Yeah some of you want to share your thoughts and write simply because you like doing it.
For me (and almost all of you), we want to make money in the process, right?
After all, a couple thousand dollars a month wouldn’t hurt.
So after you have completed all these steps, you will want to monetize your site and there are several ways to do this.
Advertising
Of course we have your typical advertising that I’m sure you’re probably tired of seeing when you land on someone else’s blog.
The thing about this is that you can make money by simply having someone click on an ad that you put on your site.
Google will pay you for every click that is generated from your site.
It isn’t as effective as before, but the opportunity still exists.
This is a way, but not recommended unless you’re getting tons of visitors to your site on a daily basis.
Promoting Your Own Product
Some of you may have your own product that you will like to promote with your own blog and of course it is very much possible.
Within and around your content, you can promote, recommend, and/or advertise it on your site.
Great way to cutout the middleman and make money, but it still doesn’t beat a thing called affiliate marketing.
Sell Other People’s Products
There’s no better way to make money with your blog than to sell things that you don’t even own.
Doing this eliminates the shipping, returns, and most especially customers.
I’m not antisocial, but it just gets you to focusing on the blogging part rather than products and people.
Sell something, get a commission, and that is it.
To top it off, you’re selling things from places that people are already shopping on in the first place.
I’m sure you’ve shopped on Amazon, Ebay, or some other site online. Everyone and their mothers are doing it and that’s where the money’s at.
As a consumer and most especially as a blogger.
I’ve built several niche sites and almost all my income comes from affiliate marketing.
Ready to Create Your First Blog?
Everything mentioned in this post can be a bit overwhelming and I’m sure you know there’s more to it than just writing and making money.
After years of trying to figure out this whole blogging and websites thing I have found one place to get it all done.
Forget about finding the training on your own and then building a site in another place.
Why not do it all in one site?
Not only do you have all the tools to run your blog, but you will be joining a community of online entrepreneurs that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
The best part about all this is that you can actually give the site a test drive before you even commit to anything.
Get trained, build a site, and make money all in one place.
Let’s get you started and I’m sure you too will become another successful blogger.
Create that blog and let’s make some money!
