These days, there are more students in college that have babies at home and don’t have time to pick up a part-time job with their already busy schedule, but making money is a must, regardless.
College life is rough especially for those of you who don’t have mommy and daddy paying for some of your expenses. I know how it is and even if I’m out of college I know we can all use some extra cash no matter what situation we are in.
Whether it be for books or just some money to get off the ramen diet, I want to show you how you can make some extra money while you’re going to school without applying and going to an actual job.
Gone are the days of taking surveys to make pennies, so what else can we do?
1.) Start Your Own Blog
Every time I tell someone to start a blog if they want to quit their job, they always seem to tell me that they don’t want to tell everyone about their life and it really blows my mind to know that people actually think that way.
Blogging is not about talking about your life but rather about things you are interested in.
With Google Adsense and something called affiliate marketing, making money blogging is truly an amazing thing.
Not only can you make some extra money, but it is very much possible to make more money than you will after you graduate from college.
It may sound a bit on the out of this world side of things, but trust me, it is an amazing way to make money if you know what you’re doing.

2.) Pick up Odd Jobs
Depending on your campus, there are always a need for some help, especially after some event that the school has and you can make a nice chunk of change just from one event.
It might involve picking up trash, but as a college student, pride should be your least concern as you have bigger goals in life and I’m sure being a maintenance supervisor isn’t one of them.
3.) Become a Virtual Assistant
Living in the digital age there is so much we can do without even leaving our homes or in this case, your dorm.
There are so many businesses that have their work stored online but don’t have the time to organize things or even stick to their schedule.
This is where you come in.
If you know a thing or two about Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets, you can very well help someone get and stay organized.
Being a virtual assistant is very convenient for college students and with your basic knowledge of software and computers (because you use them in college) you are the perfect candidate for the job.
4.) Sell Old School Books
You may already be doing this, but just in case you forgot about your old books, now is a good time to sell them and make some money.
Not only can you resell them but you can make a lot of money due to the fact that your peers not only need them but aren’t willing to spend the full price.
Sell your old textbooks and I’m sure you can at least make half of what you paid for them.
5.) Buy and Sell
I actually did this while I was working and in college so I’m sure you can do this if you are doing nothing but going to school.
Get on Craigslist or a local Facebook page that has things for sale in your area and find these no brainer deals that you make money with.
Get them, resell them (even on the same site) and make a profit.
If I wasn’t working online full-time as an online marketer, I would probably still be doing this as it is a lot better than any regular job out there and it does pay better.
This of course requires some funds to make a purchase, but I think you can bring out the little entrepreneur in you to make some extra money.
I also bought and resold cars, but definitely going to need more than $100 to get started.
Bigger profits but bigger investment required.
6.) Do Some Yard Work
Sure you’re going to need equipment, but there are some older folks that have them but just don’t have it in them to do the actual work.
Even if they have someone doing their yard, you can offer a lower cost and I’m sure you can work something out.
This is for those of you who are willing to get down and dirty (literally) so you might need some experience with this before even trying to land your first client.
7.) Tutoring
Everyone needs help and there are more students that could use a hand with their work.
Even with the math tutoring that my school offered, I wasn’t comfortable and I was willing to pay someone a small fee for something as simple as tutoring.
Now if you have a student that has mommy and daddy helping them out, this is your chance to tap into that by helping them out with school.
“Mom I need money for a tutor”
This is where you come in and give them what they want.
A tutor.
8.) Provide a Class
Do you know how to dance or even do some ballet?
Parents want to put their kids in some type of dance class but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg to get it done.
By placing a simple ad in the paper or Craigslist, you can find your best clients and ultimately make some side cash for doing something you are the “expert” in.
Teaching someone how to play an instrument is the same thing, so put that skill to use and make some extra money with it.
9.) Fitness Instructor
There are just too many people who are into health and fitness these days that I’m sure you can land a spot in your local gym just to help others.
Have some muscles? I’m sure you can be of some help even if that’s all you have to show for.
Some people feel the need to have someone tell them what to do and you can very much be this person.
I think the whole “personal trainer” thing has a good ring to it too.
10.) Affiliate Marketing
Ever think about opening your own store and selling your own products?
Probably not as there is just so much that goes into opening a simple store.
Thanks to the internet, you are able to make money selling other people’s products by providing a simple link to people.
There’s definitely more to it than just that, but that’s why they have places like the Wealthy Affiliate that teach you how to do everything.
Forget about owning a product as Amazon and EBay are willing to pay you just for selling stuff from their sites.
How cool is that?!
Conclusion
As a college student, there isn’t much you can do when it comes to making extra money as the reason why we go to college in the first place.
For the meantime, I hope these ideas can help you make a little extra cash while you’re in college so you can pay for stuff you probably can’t even afford.
What have you done to make some money while you were in college?
I’m sure you have a thing or two that you can share, so please do share.
Cheers!
