How To Sell Your Used College Textbooks Online

College books are not the cheapest thing to buy, and they usually have the lifespan of 1 full school year. Today I want to show you how to sell your used college textbooks, and I want to show you how it’s done online.

I have never sold any of my college books, but I think I can offer better advice being that I am a full-time online marketer. I know exactly how to sell anything from the internet, and I want to show you how to do the same.

I remember the days when I had to buy my college textbooks and I was in nothing but complete shock. I had no idea that a paperback book could cost so much. The worst part about it was that it will soon become obsolete because of the creation of the “next edition”.

 

Don’t You Just Love The New Editions?

If I wasn’t into business so much I really would have no clue as to why this was being done but guess what? I am. Being that I know more than the average bear, I really can’t stand the motive behind the creation of new textbooks, and you probably don’t either.

I really can’t stand how they come up with a new edition almost every single year, and there was no major changes done to the prior edition. Maybe a couple of new pictures and a different cover, but that’s about it.

All of this just to make a couple of bucks! I take that back, because they actually make a killing off of these textbooks. What sucks even more is that most professors require you to get the latest edition even if they know that they give the same exact information.

 

How You Can Sell These Textbooks

Some books, however, can be used by other students, and this can get you back something from the couple of hundred dollars that you invested into that book that you have no use for next year.

• Social Media – This is probably the best way to sell your books especially because there are these little groups on Facebook that are strictly for selling college books. All you need to do is do a quick search in the search bar of Facebook and it will bring up the different groups that you can post to.
• Sell it on Amazon.com – Being that I am an online marketer, I love selling stuff on Amazon. Not only can you sell your used college textbooks on there, you can also sell books and other things that you don’t even own. Yup, you read that right. You can make money selling other people’s products on Amazon.com. Read further into this post and I will show you exactly how it’s done.
• Check your school’s website – Most universities have their own website and most actually have a section used specifically for selling books. This is always good because you can do this all from campus.
• Sell it on E-bay – This is just the same way as selling it on Amazon, but it’s a little more complicated than Amazon and won’t allow you to earn as much. Guess what? You can also sell things that you don’t own on E-bay.

 

Don’t Expect to Get All Your Money Back

I’m not trying to question your intelligence but really, don’t expect to get most of what you’ve spent on that book back. Just like you, the person most likely buying your used textbooks is looking to save a buck or two, as well.

In most cases, you will settle for almost anything as long as you get rid of that book. I have really never sold any of my old college textbooks, so I really don’t know what they will run you.

I’d say a return of at least half of what you originally paid for the book is worth the effort it takes to sell your books online. Be sure to add picture of the books, the class it is used for, the condition, the edition, and the original price.

This will ensure possible buyers that they are buying the right book, and would make negotiating a price much easier. It’s really a win win situation for everyone involved expect the companies getting rich of college students that don’t bother to look for a bargain.
