I absolutely love craigslist and I think I’m on there everyday either looking for something useful to buy or something that I can flip.
I even downloaded the app and I usually don’t do that unless it’s for my bank or something that I can have easier access regarding my business like Fiverr.
Oh and I do have Candy Crush in case you’re thinking that I don’t like to have fun.
I am simply just saying that Craigslist is awesome.
That’s all.
Whether you’re looking for your next job, house, or ride, you have a wide selection to choose from as everyone and their mothers are putting their products and services on there.
What is Craigslist?
If you do not know what Craigslist is, you might just be living under a rock.
Craigslist is a website/app that allows people from over the world to advertise jobs, personal belongings, cars, housing, services, and almost anything that you might be looking for.
Now I did use their job search service to find some things and I actually found my first business venture on there as well as the house I’m living in.
So as you can see, Craigslist is worth a lot and with such a simple idea, the site helps millions of people find what they’re looking for all in one place.
Finding a Job on craigslist
Using the jobs search on craigslist can be confusing to some, but if you focus on all the blue links, you will get the hang of it and you will soon find yourself using the site like a pro.
Do not let the millions of blue links scare you.
There are many different job listings on craigslist which range from full-time, part-time, and “gigs” which gives you options to jobs that are done just once.
There are many different categories to choose from, which range from higher end positions all the way to writing and designing jobs, very much like you would find on Fiverr.com.
I went on craigslist to find a job and next thing you know, I’m buying a bar and running my own bar business.
To make a long story short, I failed miserably with that bar and it left me in the hunt for something better, which landed me on the internet making money through my blogs.
You can read this post to see the same exact program that took me out of debt and has allowed me to do more than just make money online.
So as you can see, craigslist is huge help for anyone looking for a “job” even if you don’t find the job you’re looking for.
craigslist Jobs Are Fresh
Most online job search engines are rarely updated and most of the jobs on there probably don’t exist even if they are on there.
Real people add real jobs, so craigslist updates their jobs as soon as someone posts an ad.
It has its pros and cons but I’ll get into that a little later in this post.
But if you want the freshest of jobs or anything for that matter, craigslist is the way to go.
Heck you can even become an Uber driver, which is something to consider if you want to be your own boss and not answer to anyone.
The craigslist App
It’s like I can’t help but talk about the craigslist app because it’s actually that cool.
Besides having an online garage sale at your fingertips, you get to see when the latest jobs hit the net.
Did I mention that it’s free?
Well, it is.
There is also a “favorites” feature, which allows you to save up to 5 jobs you’re interested in or you can pay $.99 to get unlimited favorites.
You are also able to draw on the app and you can even circle something to add it to your favorites, in case that’s something you wanted to do.
Now if the person placing the ad leaves their number, you can actually click on it to call or you can even send them a text message if it happens to be a cellphone.
There are a lot of cool things that come from craigslist, but you still need to be careful, even if you’re using the app.
Beware of Scam Jobs on craigslist
With all the positive things that come with this site and its app, there is a downside to having such an open source for jobs within the online space.
With the fact that you can post almost any type of job on craigslist, there are a lot of people abusing the site to promote their latest and greatest network marketing business or some Bitcoin hyped “opportunity”.
Then we have the “get paid to read the news” and “get paid to do small tasks” type scams that seem too good to be true, because they really are.
So if you find any “job” that sounds too good to be true, report it to craigslist so they can get banned.
We can’t stop them all, but at least we can slow them down.
Identity Theft
Along with these scams you need to be careful as there are thousands of people that will post bogus applications just to try and use it against you.
Very much like the old emails we used to get about winning a lottery and all we had to do was tell them where we wanted to have the money deposited, that’s how it works on craigslist.
If you feel questionable about something, don’t do it.
Contact the company that posted the ad and make sure they are a real company and not some scammer trying to steal your identity.
So Should You Use craigslist to Find Your Next Job?
As long as you be smart about things there is no reason why you shouldn’t at least use the site to try to land you a job.
Don’t fall for anything too good to be true and don’t put any unnecessary information that will aid these thieves in stealing your identity.
Ignore ads that seem like network marketing and you feel is not a legitimate job and you should be fine.
Try to find jobs that have numbers to call so you don’t have to waste your time as there are jobs that don’t require you to go through the hassle like you would if you were applying at an actual place.
Craigslist is a great place to find a job, so give it a try and I’m sure you will find something that can have you working in no time.
I found my true calling through craigslist and although it isn’t an actual job, I still give them credit for where I am today.
