There are several jobs online for teens that can keep you busy when school’s out or even as a source of extra income on your free time.
Instead of becoming a server or barista for your part-time job, how about working from home?
Most teens know nothing but Facebook and Instagram these days and there is a lot of things you can be doing with your free time rather than scrolling through our IG feed.
What if you put that time and energy into creating a real business online?
Just because you’re a teenager doesn’t mean that you can’t start doing business.
Something I never thought possible as a teen and something I wish someone introduced to me.
Then again, I was too occupied being a teenager that I don’t think it was even possible.
For those of you who are looking for more than just a regular old job, you can always read this instead.
But besides that, let’s get through what you came here for in the first place.
Online Jobs For Teens
Finding work as a teenager is not the easiest thing.
At least when it was the 90’s.
In this day and age, things are a little different and thanks to this thing called the world wide web, jobs are a lot easier to come by.
What’s even better about all this is the fact that you don’t have to go anywhere physically and you don’t have to commit to anything.
Your boss isn’t someone you have to tip toe around and you are actually appreciated more.
Pretty neat I know, so let’s see what kind of jobs are available these days.
1. Writing
There is no better way for anyone in school to make money than through writing.
Not only are you able to make money but you are sharpening your writing skills at the same time.
Thanks to the internet and sites like Fiverr.com, you are able to make some quick cash just for writing.
Although I do recommend you start your own blog for long term purposes, quick cash is probably in your sight, so writing for others is going to be best.
Sites like Onlinewritingjobs.com and Indeed.com offer a nice list of jobs for writers that you can choose from.
Freelancer.com is also great, so you can check that one out too.
2. Virtual Assistant
This is one of the easiest jobs I’ve ever done online and it can pay fairly well if you can produce quality work.
If you have any knowledge about Microsoft Word or similar programs, there are people looking to hire you.
I recommend working for individuals and sole proprietors as they will usually pay better.
You can always go with sites like Ziprecruiter as they have a nice selection of virtual assistant jobs as well.
$25k – $45k is the typical annual pay for a virtual assistant, so you can see that there is a lot of money to be made in this field.
3. Data Entry
Another very common online job, you will be required to input data.
You must be really good at typing and be able to understand programs like Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
This is usually a project based job so you will be paid per task unless you are working for someone full-time.
Data entry is simple, easy, and is always needed.
4. Social Media Management
There is no better person for the job than someone heavily involved in social media.
Teenagers.
Good thing for you is the fact that bloggers and business owners are always looking for someone to mange their social media accounts.
The job involves sharing posts, updating accounts, contacting followers, along with the many other tasks that you probably know more about.
Pay is dependent on the individual or company and with sites like Fiverr.com, you can do one time gigs that can be paid out instantly.
5. Tutoring
Sure you aren’t an adult yet but there are your peers who are looking for help.
Not only are they looking for help but they are looking to do it online.
Very much like how you would do tutoring or be tutored at a regular school is exactly how it works online.
Sites like VIPKID require a college degree as they focus more on helping kids speak English but tutoring can be done differently.
6. Sell Your Art
Kids always have the best and natural talent and will always be passionate about this kind of stuff.
Not worrying about bills or even going to a real job, there is no better person for this job than someone still in school.
I used to be extremely passionate about art as a kid but once I became an adult, doodling was more of the kind of work I do.
So if you have a thing for art in any way, shape, or form, there are people looking to hire you.
7. Create Videos
Kids are not the same these days and jobs for shy people are not necessary.
If you are not camera shy and you have a nice personality (or not), you can make money.
You can always consider vlogging as it is a great way to make a living and you can ask Ryan from Ryan’s toy Reviews.
Now if you want to make some quick cash, there is always Fiverr that allows you to create short videos for a small fee.
8. Create an App
Who does not want to create their own app?
With a basic knowledge of coding, this is one job that can pay really well.
Of course I would recommend creating your own app and reaping all the rewards for yourself rather than for someone else.
If you don’t have the entrepreneurial spirit in you, you can always create apps for others and still get paid.
9. Help Solve Problems
We are only human and we all need someone to talk to.
Not everyone has the ability to do it in real life, so they tend to turn to the internet for help.
Regardless of how old you are, you can make around $10 just to listen to someone’s problems.
You won’t necessarily be solving them but you will definitely help them overcome a bad day or time in their lives.
10. Photography
There are billions of photos taken every single day, yet there are only thousands making money with it.
Whether you are a professional photographer or not does not dictate your credibility as a “photographer” online.
With sites like Photography Jobs Online, you can make money with just a couple of the images you already have on your smartphone.
Turn those amazing pics into money and start selling them.
Other Ways To Make Money Online
As an online entrepreneur myself, I know there are some of you looking to do more than just make money.
There are careers that can be made online and I am a perfect example of that.
If this is something you might be interested in, here are some that I recommend.
Start a Blog
This is what brings in almost all my income.
If you have a passion or interest of some sort and you are interested in helping people online, this is definitely something you should consider.
The process is not an easy one but if you have some patience and dedication, you can create an income that most will only ever dream of.
Sell Your Junk
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
That is a great saying that holds true to a lot of things in life.
If you have some used stuff that you’re not using around your room then you can sell them online with sites like E-bay and even Amazon.com.
You can always look for some local garage sale type sites on Facebook as I’m sure there are hundreds of them just in your neighborhood alone.
Start a Vlog
Just like blogging but in video form, vlogging is a great way to make a lot of money online.
Whether you are into gaming, cooking, or anything you can think of, this is a way that millionaires are made online.
If you have a thing for videos, this is something you should consider.
Tips to Finding Jobs Online For Teens
Always have adult super vision.
I don’t care how mature you think you are, please ask a parent or guardian about joining any sites.
Not all jobs are legit, so just because they have the word “job” in them does not mean they are good to go.
Some sites might also be free to join but they are operating as some phishing scam designed to take your personal information.
Another thing to keep in mind is that most jobs pay through PayPal or another payment processor.
Don’t be too fast to give out any bank information unless you have a solid relationship with your employer.
To land any job out there, you will always need to be professional but friendly.
Be on time with your work and veer away from excuses as they will always lead to a terminated position.
There are many qualified individuals online that can do what you do, so don’t take anything for granted.
Conclusion
Get a job online.
It is the most convenient job in the world and you can even work from your smartphone or tablet if need be.
I work from home and although I am not working for anyone else, I probably would do it online if I needed to.
Although there are many jobs online for teens, I think that these are the absolute best you can find.
If of course any others surface, we will be sure to update this post.
Thanks for reading and good luck with your new job!
