Essential oils are definitely “in” right now and I don’t see any signs of it slowing down as everyone and their mothers (literally) are into this stuff.

doTerra is one of the biggest essential oils company with a business opportunity that comes in the form of multilevel marketing, which I’m sure a lot of you already knew.

This doTERRA review will give you a better understanding of what this company is about and most especially my honest opinion on whether or not this is the business for you.

Let me just say that I am not affiliated with this company and I am not the biggest fan of essential oils, but I am very much into the business side of things

Is this this right company for you or is doTERRA a scam?

So What Exactly is doTERRA?

doTERRA is a company that produces essential oils and other health and wellness products with the opportunity to resell and/or get others to join to make a commission.

Essential oils are natural aroma based products that come from the bark, stems, seeds, roots, and flowers of plants, which are used for curing diseases and other health related issues.

doTerra is mainly a multi-level marketing company, which comes with your typical products, compensation plan, and recruiting of others to make the business work.

The company started in 2008, but stayed under the radar until the whole essential oil thing got popular and are now starting to spread, which is probably why you’re only hearing about it now.

With all the current hype, I wonder how long this thing will really last.

Decades like Amway or or a complete flop like Vidacup?

Only time will tell.

The doTERRA Products

There are many distributors of essential oils and doTERRA is one that does it in the form of multilevel marketing, which means that its members sell the products and get others to join to make a commission.

Now we obviously know about the essential oils, but what could you possibly tell someone to get them to join if you only had essential oils?

On top of the essential oils, there are other body care products in case you thought you could only buy essential oils.

If that’s not enough, how about some supplements?

Not the most advertised products from the doTERRA line, but they’re there so that maybe you can get some of your male friends to find interest in.

Now if these products weren’t enough, you can checkout their products that will help with weight-loss, which I have not tried.

I’ve yet to see some of this stuff actually work, as most MLMs with a weight-loss product end up disappearing.

Thee is also a melaleuca oil, which got me thinking that this was somewhat involved with the MLM, but I was wrong.

Don’t get the two mixed up though, because  doTERRA actually has their melaleuca oil, which has nothing to do with the company Melaleuca.

There are also kits and accessories that can be purchased, which will help those of you looking more into the business side of the company.

If that’s not enough products, then I don’t know what to tell you, but this is what you can expect to promote if you do decide to join doTERRA.

The Price to Join doTERRA

Compared to most MLMs, these guys have a very reasonable startup cost and this is definitely beneficial to the target market for these products.

The price on the products range anywhere from $16 for a single bottle of essential oils, to $3,333 for a business kit, but I want to focus more on the price for becoming a distributor of the doTERRA line.

To partake in the MLM side of things, you will need to purchase at least one of their starter kits, which start at $200 and go as high as $3,333.

Here’s the part where you learn what you can make if Joe joins Jill, and Jill Joins Phil, AKA the compensation plan for multilevel marketing.

By referring people to doTERRA you will be compensated for your efforts and this is also why people join these things in the first place.

If someone purchases products through you, you can expect 25% of their purchase as well as a $25 bonus if you are qualified (have enough PV).

Sure the main thing the owners of this company needs are those looking to promote the company and recruit others to join the team, but there are actually real jobs that come with this site.

Final Opinion of doTERRA

Sure the owners have no intentions of running away (at least we hope) with everyone’s money, but with the fact that people need to purchase products and recruit others, that doesn’t sit well with the legal side of things, which leaves all MLMs looking for a different route.

Is doTERRA a scam?

Not a scam, but rather another multi-level marketing gig with products and the chance to get others to join so that you can make money.

Not the best way to make money from home, but it sure does beat any 9-5 out there.

With the fact that almost everyone who joins will not make any life changing income, you might want to really think about things before committing to anything.

Ask yourself these questions before joining.

Do you actually use and like the products?

Are you in this to play recruiter or are you really trying to show people how amazing the products really are?

Most people join this because of the business, but that is the wrong way to make a living and will not work in your favor as people will see right through it.

Most people join an MLM and simply can’t make it and then claim that they’re still in “because they love the products”, when they really don’t.

MLM is not for everyone and you can simply just buy essential oils as they are definitely hot and can be found all over the place if you’re thinking of joining just for the products.

Personally, I have had my time with several MLMs and as much as I wanted it to work, the whole recruiting thing is something I don’t agree with, especially when there are other ways to make money from home.

I think doTERRA is not a bad gig, but if you’re not so sure about the whole recruiting thing, I say stay away or you’ll find yourself scratching your head later.

Other than that, you know what you are getting yourself into so if you don’t make it, you can only blame yourself, right?
