Want to become a Dot Dot Smile merchandiser selling children’s clothing?
Well that’s what you will be signing up for if you do decide to join the company and it’s line of MLM business owners.
Created by Nicole Thompson, Dot Dot Smile caters to the parents of young children.
They specialize in children’s clothing, especially young girls.
If you see what’s trending out there, you will see how crazy anything “little girl” related really is, and I don’t mean going out there to see what is trending on Google.
But rather just seeing what’s on Instagram and social media.
This is also why I say that this is catered to the parents and not the children, as they are the ones who will be purchasing these products.
Not because their kids need clothing, but because they want to show it off to their friends on Instagram and Facebook.
I only know this because my other half is big on “showing off” and this is actually something I see her doing.
Then again, let’s just see what everything is about before I open my big mouth and introduce her to something I might end up regretting (LOL).
So What is Dot Dot Smile?
Dot Dot Smile (DDS) is a little girl’s clothing brand, which consist of dresses, rompers, leggings, and shorts.
They have a very unique style but also very similar to another company called Lularoe.
Founded in 2013, the owner, Nicole Thompson was lucky enough to be influenced by a woman named Deanne Stidham.
The owner of Lularoe.
Not to mention Stidham’s sister and niece who also run their perspective multilevel marketing businesses that cater to the same demographic.
So I guess you can say it just runs in the family.
DDS is also a multilevel marketing company, which offers individuals the chance to become a merchandiser and sell clothing to make their own profits.
Now if you don’t have the capital, you can always consider my top rated work from home program instead.

Who This is For
Definitely for moms looking to run their own business but it is also not limited to just them.
As a father that works from home full-time selling other people’s products online and being the bread winner, I see this is a great opportunity for my other half to make some extra cash by doing something she actually enjoys.
Hanging out on Instagram all day and shopping!
Being that we have a growing little princess, this might steer her into the direction of actually trying to make money.
Instead of trying to spend it all while making other people rich.
I mean, we are both home and although she really doesn’t need to do anything (like she’s been doing for the past 3 years), I see this as a great opportunity for her to not only bring in some extra money.
At least this time, she can do it with something that fits one of her interests.
So if you’re a stay at home mom (even dad) looking to start a business or make some extra cash in your spare time, this can be a great fit for you.
This is also for those of you that have that inner entrepreneur waiting to come out.
And this might be another opportunity you might want to take advantage of, as I see this company as a completely different animal when it comes to the world of multilevel marketing.
For those of you looking to run your own retail store, this might be it simply because of their backing, Lularoe.
But before you even think about making this your new business venture, let’s see what you need to even get started.
This is very much the most important part.
Requirements to Join Dot Dot Smile
You can always help your friends grow their business by signing up under them.
Now if you don’t know anyone, you can always just fill out an application on their site and they will get you going.
You will be filling out an actual application form that is very similar to what you would use if you were applying for a job.
Just like any business though, you are going to need some capital to get started.
This isn’t your typical MLM company that can have you getting started for under $100, because they do actually have a different business model.
With Dot Dot Smile, you will need to purchase your own inventory.
This will cost you over $500 dollars just to get started.
More towards the $1k mark but that’s just a rough estimate.
This does not include storage space, hangers, and everything that you will need to sell your products.
Also please remember that you are required to restock your inventory the following month.
This requires a minimum PV (will discuss later) in order for you to remain a DDS merchandiser.
You might want to put some money aside just to cover that cost alone.
The Price to Join Dot Dot Smile
As far as fees are concerned, you will need to pay $50, which is good for a whole year.
Not bad, aye?
Now let’s get into your inventory as this is where things start to get pretty pricey.
The overall business goes by a points value (PV) system from which will determine how much you spend.
In this case, you are required a total of 25 PV’s, which will most likely be equivalent to 25 articles of clothing, which you can’t even choose yourself.
So let’s say each article of clothing is $25, you will need to spend almost $600, which is quite the steal for such a simple business.
You also need to keep in mind that as a merchandiser, you are getting the merchandise for a lot cheaper, which in turn allows you to make a profit by selling them at retail value.
This also plays a part in the business side of things, which I’ll be getting into next.
The Compensation Plan
Outside the dress, you can make money by getting others to join you in becoming the next DDS merchandiser.
This is also the part where the “multilevel” side comes into play.
There are 5 levels from which you can make money and each require a minimum PV, personal signups and you can also qualify for bonuses with your team’s overall volume.
For the most part, you can get as many personal signups as you want, which means your width can be as wide as you want, but it can only go 5 levels deep.
For your first level, you will get a 5% commission from those downlines alone.
Now when those downlines bring in others, you will get 4% of the wholesale purchases from that 2nd level alone.
For the 3rd level, you get 3% and the 4th level will get you 2%, with the last level only making you 1% from the purchases made from your 5th and final level.
Anything after that will not count, so you definitely want to try and build wide as that will be your most profitable approach.
Now there is also a lot more in depth information about the comp plan, but you’re better off reading about that here as there is just way too much information to cover.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Products are of high quality
- Doesn’t require much overhead
- Very low startup cost
- Is new
- Trusted owner
- First of its kind
Cons:
- Clothing is kind of pricey
- You don’t get to choose your products
As a businessman myself, I know how hard it is to start any real business and having companies like DDS eliminate all the “normal” headaches that come with the territory.
Come tax time, you can claim your electric bill, water bill, internet, and all that good stuff and use it as a tax write off just for running your own DDS business from your house.
Final Verdict: Legit
There are hundreds of MLM companies out there and it’s really hard to find one with a solid product line like DDS has.
Personally, I’m a dude and this wouldn’t be a good niche for me but that’s why they have others like Melaleuca that can be a better choice.
Now for those of you wondering if Dot Dot Smile is a scam then you can rest assured that there will be no scamming going on here.
This might not be for everyone but that doesn’t give anyone the right to try to defame a company that sells actual products and offers others to create an actual business.
Dot Dot Smile is 100% legit.
Why Join Dot Dot Smile?
I think this is going to be an easy sale for anyone interested in joining DDS, especially if you have little girls running around, advertising your products.
You will make sales fairly easily as these products should sell themselves.
As far as focusing on the business side of things and getting more customers and reps to signup under you, that is where the challenge is.
If you’re not into the whole recruiting deal, you can always see what I recommend.

But What if You Just Want to Buy Dot Dot Smile Clothing?
Your best bet is to go through one of its merchandisers so you can get a better selection, but you can find a few on Amazon.com.
Soon enough though, I’m sure there will be more on there, as soon as this thing really takes off.
Other than that, your options are very limited as of now.
Conclusion
I give Dot Dot Smile two thumbs up and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to build their own business without having to spend thousands of dollars.
The best part about joining DDS now is the fact that it is just now taking off.
With Lularoe kind of hitting a plateau, I see DDS going strong for a couple of years before they hype disappears.
Some may say that network marketing isn’t for everyone but I believe with companies like this, it is a lot easier than trying to sell some facial cream and playing the good old recruiting game.
I’m not the biggest MLMer but I do think this is a great company with a very bright future.
Will you be the next Dot Dot Smile Merchandiser?
Please share your thoughts in the comments section below as I’m sure we all want to know more about this program.
I’m sure I’ve also left out some stuff that some of you might want to add, so feel free to do that as well.
Thanks for reading my Dot Dot Smile review and I hope you do great things no matter what you decide to do.
Cheers!
Karen
I think this dude only is here for positive things about dot dot smile. “Wow so sorry about what’s happened with you, but can you tell us about the products” ?? of course she likes the products. Why else would she have joined!!! Don’t join dot dot smile. They screwed my sister. The support groups suck. And all hate you. They don’t care. Period
John
Hahaha, do you really think I’m going to buy anything from this company Karen? Your comment is hilarious though, but no, I am not looking for anything positive about anything whatsoever. I am clearly looking for both sides of the story and I’m sure everyone else is. I mean, what could someone like me be doing with Dot Dot Smile products? Lol.
Jessica
Hello, I am seriously considering signing up with the company. Something I can’t quite figure out though is how much money can you actually make? I have a full time job so I am just looking to start small for now. If I start with DDS just selling small amounts will I make anything at all? Am I actually required to get people to sign up under me to make money? Thanks for your help
April
Hi! I’m a DotDotSmile Merchandiser! You don’t have to get people to sign up under you if you don’t want to. The primary focus is selling the product! How much you make depends on how much you work your business. You do have to order a minimum of 25PV per 60 days so small amounts are fine.
John
Thanks for sharing April and I hope your business is doing great!
Gina
I am a dotdotsmile merchandiser and feel a bit scammed to be honest. They don’t keep their promises and continue to amend the policy and procedure document that we signed. They’ve made it impossible to leave the company with any sort of buy back option. In the contract I signed, they did mention that they would accept return of 90% of our inventory at the termination of our contract and they refuse to do so.
They keep telling us new prints will come out each week, and there haven’t been new prints for months.
The $50 signs you up and includes one year of membership. Until recently. This week they sent out *another* amendment to the p&p document stating that our membership is cancelled if we don’t order a full order of dresses every 60 days.
It was also supposed to include marketing materials, which were never developed.
John
Wow, that’s really not good at all but thanks for sharing Gina as I’m sure this can help others who are thinking about joining this company. Can you tell us more about the actual products though? Are the of good quality?
Amie Collins
I just wanted to share that a lot has changed since this comment was posted. Marketing materials are live now, more new prints are coming out, and the revisions that have been made to policies and procedures (if any) are pretty minimal and mostly just lower the minimum requirements for ranking.
I’m still an active merchandiser and the company definitely went through a growth phase rolling out their policies and then revising when they had a major staff change with the person overseeing the program. Overall though I think the changes were extremely positive for protecting the brand and profitability. And things have really stabilized.
Product quality is definitely top notch and they’ve continued to expand a lot with new styles, etc.
Karen
I think this dude only is here for positive things about dot dot smile. “Wow so sorry about what’s happened with you, but can you tell us about the products” ?? of course she likes the products. Why else would she have joined!!!
John
Ummm, okay Karen.
Heather
Great review! I have been a merchandiser with DotDotSmile since June and have really enjoyed working with the company!
A quick correction. In my experience, there is no requirement to order monthly unless you have a downline and want to be qualified for commissions. Especially when just starting out, you can order as frequently or as infrequently as you choose. Another thing I love is that DDS covers the cost of shipping on our orders!
Startup minimum is under $500 which includes 25 dresses of which you choose size and style.
I am part of an amazing team and would love to answer questions for anyone who might be interested! Heather @ gigglebuzzkids@gmail.com
John
Thanks for the correction Heather!
