With the many save you money types of apps on the market today, it’s really a task to choose just although they are all pretty much the same.

The world is changing at a fast pace and apps are becoming increasingly popular, every single day which is more reason to jump on the wagon and start having fun with the millions of other users around the world that are doing it.

However, that doesn’t mean they are all good to use and worth your time and that is why I’m going to write my honest ShopKick review and let you know if this app is worth your time or not.

ShopKick is a shopping app that can be used from any smartphone or tablet. The company is based in Silicone Valley, America and has been around for quite some time now.

The main focus with ShopKick is to give their users the ability to earn rewards just from walking into stores and performing small tasks.

They were founded in 2009 and they are one of the biggest shopping apps currently available on the app store for that category.

Do keep in mind that you NEED a smartphone to use this app so I hope you are on your phone because that’s the only way this will work.

Or of course a tablet if you feel like carrying it around.

The app allows you to get the best deals from specific stores. Using the app, you’re able to locate selected stores, see what is trending, and what their daily deals are.

It is a pretty straightforward app and it’s fairly easy to use.

You earn currency points from doing small tasks and making purchases, in return you get rewards for your efforts very much similar to Ibotta, which is of course another application.

The virtual currencies used are called “kicks”. You can earn them just from walking into participating stores.

Ways to earn points:

• Walking in – That’s correct, you earn kicks JUST from putting your feet in the door
• Scanning barcodes on products
• Scanning QR codes with the smartphones/tablets camera
• Purchasing items
• Submitting your receipt

 

 

What can you get with kicks?

Of course, you can convert your “kicks” into rewards when you have earned enough of them.

These are:

• Gift cards
• iTune songs
• Facebook credits
• Movie tickets
• Special discounts
• Plus more

The entire app is supported by 70 brands, while a large amount of them are the ones you use almost everyday anyway.

Something to keep in mind

The owners of ShopKick receives a small cut of all kicks that you have earned and that is how they make their money.

For example: If you purchase an item from a store, and you use the app to get a discount, ShopKick gets a small commission from that purchase. Although it isn’t much, I thought I would mention it just so you know.

What Are Kicks Worth?

Kicks are worth money, and that’s because they can be redeemed for gift cards and other rewards.

250 kicks is worth $1.

Therefore, 1000 kicks is worth $4, 2500 kicks is worth $10, so on and so forth.

You can redeem your kicks just from using the app on your smartphone or tablet alone, you do not need to use a PC to redeem them.

How Much Can You Earn?

Just from entering a participating store, you can earn up to 30-50 kicks. Just remember to wait a few seconds at the entrance for the app to confirm that you have walked in.

Scanning items can give you 10 points, each scan. What’s the catch? You can only scan the selected items, while there is a limit on how much kicks you can earn by doing this as well.

Furthermore, the items aren’t close together, so be prepared to walk all around the store for those all-important “kicks” 😛

There are various “surprise” tasks that can popup at anytime while you’re in the store as well, allowing you to earn even more kicks.

Referring a friend into ShopKick can earn you up to 2500 kicks!

Even when you link your credit card you will get a bonus of 200 kicks.

Overall Rating: Not a bad app although it doesn’t pay as much and only offers “rewards”. It is a fun way to shop though so that might be the deciding factor.

So is ShopKick a Scam?

Definitely not a scam and they will give you your rewards.

Nothing crazy, but what did you expect from a site that’s free to join, right?

The fact that they will give you something in return and that they are not here to scam you is enough to give this app two thumbs up.

Not my #1 recommendation as far as making money online is concerned, but it is something to consider especially if you do a lot of shopping.

What I Recommend

There are just too many to choose from when it comes to coupons and saving money shopping type sites that it’s really overwhelming.

There’s just no way to use them all and it is really a waste of time in my honest opinion.

Now if I was to choose one of these sites, I would recommend one called Coupon Cactus as they give the highest returns and pay some actual cash.

Other than that, they are all very much similar and as long as you do your research before joining one, they all work the same.

If you’re looking for a better way to make money you might want to try a program called the Wealthy Affiliate, which is beyond an amazing way to make a living online.
