If you are wondering if you should purchase the Mai Lifestyle Pro theme then this review is all you need.
Before we proceed any further, let me just tell you that I have tried, tested, and lost income all thanks to something so simple as a theme.
So if you don’t think that I know anything about themes and anything related to websites, let’s just say that I have done enough experimenting for you, me and everyone else.
If this is going to be your first premium theme, I want you to be able to make a purchase knowing you will get what you want as choosing a theme can be very confusing.
Before you purchase this theme or any theme for that matter, let me give you some tips on what you should look out for before you buy something you will end up not using like I did.
First, don’t judge a book by its cover.
What looks great in a demo might not be what you really wanted.
Sometimes it’s usually a simple image that gives a site its look but the overall theme is probably complicated and might not be the best for SEO.
Next, make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.
If you don’t know a lick of coding, you definitely want to go with the most simple theme out there or you will find yourself purchasing another theme.
Lastly, get a premium theme.
There are thousands of free themes out there but they are not all created equal.
From my experience and recent changes, I know exactly what works and what needs to be done to have your online business thriving like no tomorrow.
Now the theme I am about to is my most recommended theme on the market today and this is also the same exact theme this site is using.
Let me show you why I think this is probably the best theme out there, especially if you are a blogger and one that is looking for that SEO edge.
Mai Lifestyle Pro Review
When dealing with themes it is almost impossible to find one that has everything you need to give your site the look and feel that makes you excited about what you have created.
One thing might be exactly what you want it to look like but then there’s one other thing that frustrates you and takes you away from putting in the actual work needed to make money online.
Why does my header have to be on the left when I want it in the middle?
Why am I limited to one menu?
There are many things holding us non-coding people back from creating something like these so called “pros” are doing.
I can’t even tell you how many different themes I’ve been through and not a single one of them has had everything I wanted.
Then I ran into Mai Lifestyle Pro.
There’s a bunch of stuff I liked, so let me get right into that here.
Simplicity = Great SEO
As a blogger you always want something simple.
I have tried Thrive due to their whole idea of converting but there is just too much going on in the background that isn’t good for SEO.
With Mai, you have a simple website that will give you an amazing look but also give you the option to customize your site like it took a bunch of coding.
This same website you’re on is ran off of the Genesis Framework and I am also using the Mai Lifestyle Pro theme.
For this site, I chose to keep it really simple as that is how I prefer things with this niche.
Now I also run other niche sites but they can come with a more stylish design and that is what this theme is able to do.
See some of my work below to get some Mai Lifestyle Pro samples to show you what can be done without knowing any kind of website code.
Everything I used to setup these sites was without any crazy coding.
What you get right out of the box equips you to come up with some cool designs that can not be done with almost every other theme out there.
There is also a banner area that can be used to display your title along with a featured image, which is another simple feature that is there if you want to be more creative.
I am not using that on this site and only because I prefer not to with this specific niche.
Flexibility
The Mai Lifestyle Pro theme is as simple to use as any other StudioPress theme.
The difference with this and the others though is that this one is fully customizable and extremely flexible.
If you see the samples of my two other sites and this one (aworkathomejobs.com), you will see that I have the headers and menus in different areas.
You can have the menu right under your site’s logo or you can have it to the left or right sides of your header.
Then if you want to use a sticky logo (have it stay while you scroll) there is an option for you to do that as well.
More flexibility features
- Customizable homepage
- Header/Logo placement
- Multiple widget areas
- After content widget
- Woocommerce capabilities
- Customizable content width
- Ability to add code straight from customization mode
Forget about being bound to one thing as every part of this site is flexible.
I’m sure you’ve wanted to change one little thing on your site but wasn’t able to thanks to a limited theme.
With Mai, you can change it all!
The little button below also comes with the theme.
That’s another thing you can look forward to if you are still creating buttons using images.

One Price, No Extra Costs
To get the Mai Lifestyle Pro theme you of course need the Genesis framework.
It will cost you $129.95 for the set.
That can sound a bit pricey at first but I want to explain the difference with StudioPress and any other theme provider.
Unlike some that have you purchasing plugins and widgets on top of the expensive theme, you can expect to pay one price and one price only.
That price comes with unlimited support, unlimited updates, and a theme that is the absolute best for SEO.
If you’re an existing member of StudioPress, then you can purchase any of the child themes for like $50 or something.
Since you obviously already own genesis.
Now you can always save over a thousand dollars and just get the Pro Plus Membership for $499.95.
If you’re like me and want to waste money by purchasing these themes separately, then don’t get the Pro Plus Membership.
The thing to keep in mind is that once again, this is all a one time fee.
The best part about all this is that you can actually get a refund if you are not satisfied with the product for whatever reason.
What I Didn’t Like
Besides everything else, the one thing I didn’t like about this theme was the font.
I found it to be a bit on the lighter side and that was something that made me count this theme out.
I like to provide a clean user experience for my readers and it seemed that it wasn’t possible.
For me, the font is the main thing I look for.
That was before I learned that you can change your font with a simple change in the StudioPress code editor section.
Instead of ignoring that, I was able to change the font by adding a simple line of code.
Not only was it simple but it made me love my job even more.
Other than that, I really didn’t have anything else to complain about.
Installation & Setup
Setting up this theme is really simple as there is a tutorial on how to setup every aspect of your site.
If you want it to look similar to the demo site then you can do that as well.
Now the Mai Lifestyle Pro works off of the Genesis Framework, so you will need that before you are able to use Mai.
Unlike your traditional themes that just require you to download and then activate, it’s a little bit different with the Mai Lifestyle Pro theme along with any other StudioPress child theme.
Genesis is the framework and something like Mai would be a child theme.
You have to install both but you would just need to activate Genesis and then the child theme of your choice.
Once that is done, it will be like you’re only using a single theme.
Now when it comes to Mai, there is an extra step necessary as they are not like a regular child theme.
The Mai theme is actually ran off of a plugin, which should be automatically downloaded once you download the actual theme.
At first I was a little skeptical but after testing things, I actually didn’t experience anything different.
The beauty about the child theme and now a plugin is that you don’t have to deal with a negative impact if you need to make any changes on your site.
So if you want to change your menu but don’t want to because of a penalty from Google, remember that your site will be sitting on a framework which will show that there wasn’t any changes.
Pretty neat huh?
Help and Support
These guys are awesome.
Being that the theme isn’t actually owned by StudioPress, their support is done a bunch dedicated specifically for this theme alone.
There are real people that are out there willing to answer any questions you may have.
Unlike most “live chat” features on other sites, this one actually works and gives you all the answers you need.
So if you want to know how to change a menu item, you can contact them and they will point you in the right direction.
Support is a great thing to have but not many companies offer it as great as these guys do.
Final Opinion of Mai Lifestyle Pro
I am a personal fan of the Genesis Framework and most especially the Mai theme.
I have ventured off to try other theme providers but I couldn’t find one that I actually liked.
If it wasn’t one thing, it was something else and as an online marketer a theme is the last thing you should worry about.
If you are looking for a great theme that can be as simple as simple can be or one that has all the bells and whistles if need be, then this is the theme I recommend.
Don’t forget that you will only be paying a one time fee just to get this theme and the framework so there is nothing else that needs to be purchased.
Every business needs a solid website and this theme will make you look like a pro.
If you are looking for the best theme for SEO, Genesis is it and even other bloggers will tell you the same.
Other than that, I hope this Mai Lifestyle Pro review has given you more than enough information on what I think is the best theme out there.
Now you tell me, is there really a better theme than this?

Mai Lifestyle Pro - Conclusion
Summary
This is my favorite theme. Period. I have tried Thrive, Themeforest, and Elegant Themes but none of them had everything I wanted in a theme. Being that this theme is also ran off of the Genesis Framework makes it that much better. If you want better SEO, simplicity, and just a flat out better website then this is what I recommend.
Thanks a lot for this review. This isn’t one I’ve heard of but I’ll definitely look into it further after reading this.
I appreciate your honesty and that you also talk about things you don’t like about the platform.
I have one question: Are you familiar with the Divi theme and if so, is this similar? I’m currently using Divi and, while it’s easy to use, there are a few annoying aspects as well.
The biggest problem I had with Divi was the crazy coding behind the theme that didn’t help with SEO. If you started with it and are cool with the way things work then you will be fine just sticking with them. If not, I would get ANY of the Genesis Framework themes.
I love the look for your website and interested to see it was the Mai Lifestyle Theme. I am currently running a free theme and not quite ready to pay for a Premium one.
But I am starting to run into a lot of the problems you talked about with not being able to change simple things, without knowing a lot of coding (well actually I know none!).
Are the Premium themes just that much better when it comes to being able to easily manipulate the contents?
Also how do you know if the theme you are choosing is not going to slow down your whole site? I see lots of the Premium theme companies say theirs do not, but I always wonder if that’s a bit of marketing hype.
Your thoughts appreciated.
If anything it usually helps speed up your site and that is one reason why I really like any of the themes from the Genesis Framework. With the simple coding behind the scenes, it allows your site to skip all the fancy stuff that would usually take time to load. It is very much worth the investment and I highly recommend you get any of their themes. Mai Pro is of course as customizable as they come, so consider this specific theme if you actually plan on purchasing one.
I want to change my theme since it does not have any flexibility and I really can’t do what I want with sidebars so I think I can give Mai a shot. However how is this theme’s speed? And is it light enough? I really care about the speed and can this theme get above 80 from google page speed insights?
Speed is definitely up there man and you can see it with my site that has a lot of ads.
This theme does seem like a really great one. I love like you said how simple and clean it looks — plus how easily it is to customize it if you don’t know how to code all that well.
Did you say this was made my studio press? If so what do you think about the eleven 40 pro theme?
Eleven 40 Pro is another great theme and I also recommend that one as well. Pretty much any theme that StudioPress has to offer is going to do you well in regards to simplicity and SEO.
John,
Great write up and review of the Mai Lifestye Pro theme. Your article is very timely as I recently went through the process of picking a new theme and then switching my site over to it. I think the most difficult part was simply going through theme after theme to try to pick out the one that “felt” right for my blog. I’m glad I went simple like you suggest! To me after looking at themes for so long I realized that over 80% of my traffic (and I’m sure most websites) are viewed on a phone. In order to have a theme that works on a phone the simpler the better seemed to make sense to me.
You’ve got a lot of great information on your site man so I’ll be coming back to learn more to get better at what I’m attempting to do. Thanks!
Thanks Mat and I hope your new theme is working well for you. Thankfully these days, almost all theme providers base their overall design on mobile as Google favors sites that are flexible and responsive. Definitely go one that has those features and you won’t have any issues moving forward.
Hey John!
Thank you for this review of the may lifestyle pro. Choosing themes is something that I have struggled with, and it is hard to see the end result before you have tried it.
It is good to see that I made the right choice with a simple theme but I think I might have to try this theme out.
All the best,
Stefan
Definitely go with simple Stefan unless you have a team of writers that can help you build out a site that requires some kind of fancy homepage. Other than that, you made the right choice.
Hi John,
I have tried many free themes and I was never happy enough with them for many different reasons.
Mai Lifestyle Pro is a great theme for a niche website. It looks easy to customize which is an important factor for me so I think I will give it a try.
Thanks for sharing.
Not a problem man!
I have just finished reading your review of the Mai Lifestyle Pro theme and I found it particularly interesting because finding a new theme within WordPress, and having it do all you want is a thankless process.
Some themes are better than others but I have really not found one with the flexibility that you mention. Most site theme’s are set up basically as a blog roll and therefore limited in scope.
Thanks for this informative post,
Regards,
Howard
You’re welcome Howard!
Hey, I heard about this theme a few weeks ago but I wasn’t able to get any further information on it until I came upon you review -great job, the Mai Lifestyle Pro Review is awesome and I really like all the detail provided throughout – no stone left unturned, I have a great understanding of it now and the price is reasonable to be fair, thanks for the good work!
Hallo there,
Someone had mentioned that the font of theme would mess me up especially because I like things neat and decent for my readers.
But I see that there is a line of code that you can use to change all that. I was wondering if you can share with me the code since I want to get the theme.
Thanks in advance.
Sure Dave, here’s what you need to put in the “additional CSS” section when you are in customize mode. Just simply copy and paste and you will have the same exact font i’m using here.
body {
background-color: #fff;
color: #222;
font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: 18px;
font-size: 1.6rem;
font-weight: 350;
line-height: 1.9;
}
h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6
{ font-family: ‘Helvetica Neue’,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;
font-weight: 500;
line-height: 1.2;
margin: 0 0 10px;
}
