I get asked all the time about how I make money with my blogs and I don’t think people will ever get it unless they actually try it for themselves.
“How do you even make money blogging?”
“Is it really possible to make money with a blog?”
I get irritated and then I remember how I was when I first started my online career. I didn’t know anything about blogging, besides the fact that there were people making boatloads of money doing it.
Back in the day, the only thing I could think of when I hear the word “blog” is someone talking about their life on the internet and how they like a certain thing.
I’m pretty sure there are a lot of people thinking the same way, so I thought I’d put this post together to show you exactly how money is made from something so simple as blogging.
It all Starts With a Passion
Are you truly passionate about something? Well that’s how people are cashing in on the millions of dollars that are made by bloggers every single year.
Whether it be surfing or cooking, your blog needs to have some sort of “theme” associated with it and you either need to be really interested in it or you are wanting to learn more about something.
Without that theme, you don’t have any direction. Although you could very well make money with a chop suey type of website, you might not want to do that.
Once you have that down, then you can start focusing on how money is made blogging. Here are the different ways on how people make money with a blog.
The Obvious – Advertising
It is very rare that you come across a blog that doesn’t have a single ad. If you look around my site, you will see that I don’t have a single advertisement, but I do have my reasons.
However, advertising is one of the ways that money is made through blogging and I make a good amount of money just from ads alone.
Did you know that people are getting paid (most of the time) when someone clicks on an ad? Imagine having thousands of people on your site and even just 10% of them click on an ad? You would make a good chunk of change just from that alone.
When it comes to the make money from home niche, it is usually riddled with not so legit ways to make money online, so I cut off the the advertising and I stick to the next form of making money with a blog.

Affiliate Marketing
This would be the most profitable way to earning money as a blogger, which is nothing more than taking other people’s products, selling them, and gaining a commission in the process.
This is the core to my business and it is also the main source of income for me. I get paid from Amazon and other websites just for promoting their products.
Whether it be by doing product reviews or mentioning it in a regular post, there is always a chance to make a recommendation to the visitors on your site.
Most of the time, people don’t know that they are contributing to your bank account, and there is nothing wrong with that, because you are providing them with content.
You are really doing nothing more than giving them more information about certain products that they were already going to buy in the first place.
Affiliate marketing is my #1 recommendation to not only making money from a blog, but making money in any business. Period.
Why, you may ask?
Well…
- You don’t have to own your own product
- You don’t have to ship any products
- You don’t have to deal with returns
- You don’t have to deal with unhappy customers
- You don’t need an actual store
- You don’t have to pay for any crazy overhead costs
- You don’t have to physically talk to anyone
- You can get any product with the click of a mouse
Affiliate marketing is something that most people have no clue about or they have come across it, but went through the wrong “opportunity”.
Yup, There are Scams All Over the Internet
With affiliate marketing being as great as it is, there are just way too many people out there trying to get their piece of the pie and created programs that don’t even work.
It really sucks because most people that have had tried some type of making money online program will probably think that nothing works because of the bad name that these scammers have given the online world.
Unlike most quitters, I pushed forward, cut my losses and continued my journey to finding something that actually works.
So You’re Saying There is a Way?
Just like most online failures, I have had my share of making other people rich. If it wasn’t for a site called the Wealthy Affiliate, I really don’t know what I’d be doing right now.

Now, people around me only wonder, how in the world does this guy make money with his blog and I really couldn’t care less what they were thinking.
As much as I try to present the idea of working online, people will never believe it until they actually made money themselves and I have dealt with so much negativity that it only pushed me to work harder.
But, I am not here to do it for them. Just like any career you set out to do in life, there is one reason as to why I make money with my blogs and why I am successful with it.
Blogging Takes Hard Work and Determination
This is the biggest reason why some people find success with a blog and why others don’t. In order to even make a penny online, you will need to work at it.
I know it is nothing fancy and it doesn’t require you to do any type of physical labor, but please do know that it can be just as hard (or harder) as any other job you can think of.
The only difference, is this thing called blogging can be very rewarding, and I don’t just mean your bank account either.
Besides making more money than most people I know, there are a lot more reasons why anyone should start on their own blog.
- More time with your family (my #1 reason)
- You work on your time
- You write your checks
- Work less hours
- No talking to anyone
- You are the boss
On top of that, you have the best place to operate your business. I have tried my luck in running a bar, and not even that can compare to what the world wide web has to offer.
- The biggest market in the world
- Billions of people are online every single day (yup, billions)
- Billions of dollars are spent online every year
- Low overhead costs
- Biggest potential. Period.
You will not find a bigger market and I don’t care what business venture you get into. In case you didn’t know this, there is more and more money being spent online and it won’t be slowing down any time soon or ever.
