I never thought I would see a direct sales company that sells toys, so this is definitely something new for anyone looking to make money with them.
There are many other questions that need answers, so I have put together this Discovery Toys review to help you gain a better understanding of what you will be doing if you do decide to join yet another multilevel marketing style business.
From Amway, to Lularoe, there have been many companies that hit the market and it’s safe to say that not many of them last.

So What is Discovery Toys
Discovery Toys is a direct sales company in the business of empowering individual minded people to moderate their own schedule and conduct business as they see fit while selling the companies line of product.
It is a MLM company that could potentially provide entrepreneurial individuals the opportunity to make money through work that is done when they want it and the way that they want it.
Sounds pretty good, right? Today we will find out for sure as we take a close look at “Discovery Toys,” to see if its reality lives up to its promises.
What They Sell
One of the things that I appreciate about Discovery Toys, is that they are actually in the business of providing products that are somewhat unique.
A lot of MLM companies sell stuff that you could get at any other store and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
For example, while you can get plastic foot storage containers just about anywhere, Tupperware is nevertheless a juggernaut of a brand that has loyal customers all across the planet.
Still, there are certainly potential shoppers out there that aren’t going to buy something from a stranger that they can get from Target.
Discovery Toys on the other hand, makes educational learning toys that aren’t quite as ubiquitous as make up, candles, or storage containers.
The toys themselves are sincerely interesting and fun.
No, it’s not the “Avenger”, but they do still provide classic toys like play houses, and blocks that have an educational twist to them.
When considering an MLM the products are perhaps the most important thing to consider.
Why?
Because if the products are good and useful you shouldn’t encounter too much trouble trying to sell them.
Discovery Toys succeeds at providing its sales staff with merchandise that they should not have any trouble moving, which is definitely a big plus in its favor.
The Compensation Plan
Like all MLMs, compensation is based entirely on how much product you are able to move.
Risky, right?
Perhaps but it is also an entirely legitimate way of doing business that plenty of skilled salespeople have found great success with.
The good news is that the compensation plan with discovery toys is actually pretty generous, at least compared to other companies of a similar nature.
On direct sales, representatives receive a commission of somewhere between 25%-35% of the sale.
The actual percent that you will take home depends on a number of factors including what sort of plan you buy in with, how long you have worked a s a representative, and your sales history.
When you first start out, you should expect to make closer to 25% than 35%, but nevertheless the percentages can lead to a pretty decent income if you are good at what you do.
So just what sort of income are we talking about?
Well, it took some digging but from what I was able to find, the average representative makes around….$100 annually.
Yeah. That’s not so great, right? But it’s also not as bad as it sounds either.
Earning averages in that range are actually pretty typical of companies of this nature.
Why? A lot of people are attracted to the idea of an MLM but when it comes time to actually making the effort that is required to be successful at it they back away.
As a result, there are plenty of people that go out and do a sales party or two, and then never work at it again because they realize that finding success at Discovery Toys (or someplace like it) is going to require time and energy.
Those people do not find success with MLMs.
On the other hand, there are also people that approach the job with patience, dedication, and lots of effort.
Those people often earn five figure salaries, and even enjoy benefits like free products, and sometimes even trips.
In other words, compensation can range from being very scarce to pretty significant depending on what sort of success you find.
The Price
If you are wondering what I could even mean by that, companies like MLM generally require a small startup cost to get started.
Generally this fee will buy you a starter kit that equips you with everything that you need to grow your business, including business cards and even a web domain.
That’s exactly what Discovery Toys does.
For a small(ish) fee you can get started with everything you need.
Generally the most basic startup kit is going to cost about $89 dollars, but they have also been known to run promotions that brings that cost down pretty considerably.
Keep in mind however that this is just the bare minimum.
There are more expensive starter programs that come with more product, as well as additional training materials that will at least in theory improve the way that you do business.
The most expensive of these programs is $400.
Additionally, members must place at least $100 worth of orders each quarter in order to be considered “active”.
If you plan on committing to actually participating in sales parties, and other methods of moving product, a $49 start-up cost isn’t all that bad, even if there is also the added cost of occasionally reupping your supply.
The key with the entry level package is to choose something that will help you to start on the right foot without spending more money than you will be able to quickly recuperate.
Conclusion
Is Discovery Toys right for you?
It depends on what kind of person you are.
The truth is that there are plenty of intelligent, personable people out there that still can’t really make it as salesmen.
Those people don’t tend to do very well with MLM.
Keep in mind that this is a venture in which your salary is based entirely on your skill at sales. If you aren’t a good salesman, you should probably consider a different venture.
On the other hand, if you’re a good salesman, Discovery Toys represents a great opportunity to make some money and enjoy some cool perks.
What I Really Think
Not the biggest fan of a toy MLM and I don’t see this doing so well for most people.
I mean, what would you say if you were to promote your toys?
Things can get really complicated and awkward when you have something like toys being promoted as some type of business.
Personally, I would rather have you make money selling other people’s products as there is zero recruiting involved and the income potential is definitely up there.
Other than that, it’s really on you on whether or not you should give this a try.
At the very least, they are legit and not looking to take your money.
Would I recommend them?
Probably not.
