Whether you’re in it for the money, or you’re just out to do it as a hobby, there’s a few common habits that successful bloggers do on their website that separates them from the failures.
Even if you are in it for the money, it is still possible to make a living off of it, you just have to change your mind set from “make as much money as possible”, to “serve your audience the best that you can”.
Then the money will come as a result of that!
If you implement these habits that I have outlined below into your daily blogging, or weekly, depending on when you decide to write, I guarantee you will see success.
But you have to follow them and stick to them like your life depends on it, then you can come back and thank me later 🙂
Successful Bloggers Are Self-disciplined
When you’re a blogger, you don’t have a boss telling you when you need to have your next article done by or how many words you should be aiming for, so you have to discipline yourself to “just do it”.
Successful bloggers don’t even struggle to get an article done anymore, because they’ve done it for so long it’s basically second nature to them.
And that is what you should be aiming for.
Successful Bloggers Are Persistent
Even if you’re making money with your blog, or you have a fan base of loyal subscribers, that doesn’t mean you have “made it” and it’s time to stop working.
No no no, this is a job, there is no time to stop unless you want your success to come to a dead end as well.
Successful bloggers know stopping is not an option, because they love their job and enjoy serving their audience at the same time.
If you want to become a successful blogger, think of it as a business and everything will change for you.
Successful Bloggers Know Their Goals And Their End-Game
A common habit that successful bloggers have is they actually set goals.
Not only that, but they know what their end-game is.
They know what they will gain when they start a new project, they know launching a product is going to be a massive success, etc.
That’s what you should be doing too, setting goals (short term AND long term), then when you reach them, you set even more.
If you haven’t already, get yourself a whiteboard and write these goals down.
Dream big.
Forget about what anyone thinks, set them and push forward to making it happen.
Successful Bloggers Are Focused
Even though successful bloggers are only working for maybe 2-5 hours per day, depending on their goals, they are constantly focused on their blogging and projects.
If you are sitting at your computer for 8+ hours a day, ask yourself this: How productive are you being?
Because I bet you’re spending over half that time watching funny cat videos, talking on Social Media platforms and probably watching Netflix too.
Stop doing this, because successful bloggers stay as focused as possible while they’re working on their blog.
Successful Bloggers Know Learning Never Stops
The internet is changing at a fast-pace, and you’re only going to fall behind if you stop learning.
Successful bloggers know learning never stops, especially when it comes to the niche they are in.
You need to adapt to what your audience wants, because when that changes, you will not be giving the information that they are looking for, resulting in them moving on to read another blog.
You need to be learning new things and not completely ruling out projects you feel like starting.
If you want to start a list, research it first before jumping straight into it. Find out the best ways to capture their emails, or the best places to put your sign up forms.
Hint: Under your content, about me page, popup, side bar 😛
Want to create your own product? Find the dos and don’ts first before you dive in and make a huge mistake.
Just keep learning and evolving, like successful bloggers do, and you will be well on your way to being a successful blogger too!
Successful Bloggers Serve Their Audience
A lot of newbie bloggers focus on making as much money as possible.
This is NOT the right mindset you should be in. Don’t get me wrong, it’s okay to think like that, since you’re probably wanting to make a fortune in the process.
But if you truly want to get there, focus more on serving your audience the best that you can.
Give them the information that they are looking for, and the universe will reward you in great ways my good friend – money, money and more money!
If you’re writing a review about something, don’t praise it like there’s no tomorrow, because their subconsciousness will pick up on your lies.
Then they will actually realize that you’re just trying to make a quick buck from them, resulting in them clicking the back button faster than you can say “wait!”.
But Most Of All, Successful Bloggers Write For The People
This is one of my favorite habits actually.
Stop trying to game the search engines, just write as if you’re speaking to a friend, and don’t worry about building backlinks and all that jazz.
Stop trying to stuff keywords into your content.
Why?
Because Google and other search engines want to give the best content that’s going to give the people exactly what they are searching for.
When you have a bunch of different keywords stuffed into your content on purpose, the search engines will pick up on it and will most likely NOT give you any rankings.
Not to mention that if you miraculously do get ranked, it won’t be long before another page written for the people and outranks you, dropping you down a few pages!
My Final Thoughts
Blogging has endless possibilities, but if you want to become successful at it and make it your J.O.B, you have to treat it like one.
You have to treat it like your own business, because that’s what it is, an online business.
It is your online real estate and the only way to increase the value is by adding more and more content.
You have to realize that bloggers write, and they write a lot.
If you want to be apart of the small 3% of people that make blogging their job, then you should follow all the tips I have mentioned above.
Because if you do, you WILL make it.
One system that helped me become successful was a program called the Wealthy Affiliate, if it wasn’t for them, I would have never been where I am today.
Go ahead and check it out, it is free to sign up too.
Good luck and happy blogging!

A Work at Home Jobs
Hey John,
This is a great list of habits that every successful blogger out there should have in common. As a matter of fact, I happen to possess nearly every one of these habits and over the years this really has changed my life.
However, there are a few of these that I need to work on and this happens to be one of my goals that I set for 2017.
I agree with you that you definitely shouldn’t worry about the money when you first start out blogging. Instead, you need to focus on speaking to your audience by providing them with the information that they’re looking for and provide them with a solution to their problem.
If you can do this then the money will follow shortly after this. Once you get a routine and stick with it, you’ll naturally get better at it.
Blogging can become a way of life for you, and like you said, you need to treat it like your business if you want to become a successful blogger.
Thanks for putting this list together and sharing this with everyone here today.
Cheers
