So I just finished Rich Dad Poor Dad. Seeing this book all over the place, left me no choice, but to see what the hype was all about.

Was it worth the read? Sure. Do I recommend it? Of course, I don’t see how expanding your mind will hurt you.

There are so many mixed reviews that I think people are looking way too far into things, so I this will probably help you the most.

Summary

This book is about being educated financially and how a normal education will brainwash most people and hold them back from experiencing financial freedom.

The book was written by Robert Kiyosaki, whose net worth is around $80 million. There are so many stories about this dude that no one knows what to believe anymore.

No one really focuses on what the book is about, but seem to find other things to talk about, which involve a lot of personal things associated with the author.

Whether he actually had a rich dad and a poor dad in real life, I still think the book is worth a read if you are looking for some type of motivation.

Making Money and Education

Before reading this book, I have already taken my online business off the ground and I was looking for alternatives to making more money and investing in the right places.

I didn’t dive into this book thinking that Rob was going to show me how to make a million dollars (okay, maybe I did), but I got something else out of it rather than learning how a million dollars was made.

What’s really funny is I think the same way when it comes to education and making money. Rob talks about educated people and how they are limited to making money, which is kind of a no brainer, but most people wont’ understand.

Changing Your Mentality

Trying to change the way you think is not an easy task and for most, it is impossible. You will follow what you are taught in the early years of your life, which involves becoming a teacher or a doctor, which most consider to be excellent careers.

That is not taught in this book and I believe in what he has to say. With “careers” there is a limit to what you can do and how much you can make, but with the business world, the opportunities are literally endless.

I went from trying to be a Sgt. Major in the military, to quitting after serving 12 years of my life thanks to the wonderful world of business.

Remember, I did all this before I read this book, so that was one of the things that impressed me about this book.

Knowing that I think the same way as an already made millionaire lets me know that I am on the right track in regards to making that first $1,000,000.

The Formula to a $1,000,000

This book is really based on how to think and not what to do, so if you’re trying to get the formula to making a lot of money, you might not find it here.

However, if you can read between the lines, you will see that Rob has made some of his money through real estate and other forms of investing.

Investing and reinvesting are a big part of making a lot of money and although it is not clearly stated, you can see that it’s what is really trying to be said.

Making a lot of Money is Not for Everyone

If you really think you’re going to make a lot of money becoming a doctor, getting a college degree, then this book will definitely help you to fix the way you think.

This book is great for anyone who thinks normal. Just like he thinks, is the way you need to think or you will not make a million dollars and you definitely won’t break out of your day job.

Out of the millions of people that read this book, there will be a few (less than 1%) that will actually become millionaires just from reading this book.

You’ll most likely have those with negative reviews about this, who will definitely be working for someone else for the rest of their lives.

In Conclusion

To wrap things up and end this review I want to give you a few thoughts on what I really think about this or any other motivational, get rich, type books.

Whether Rober Kiyosaki made this whole story up or not, it’s not really about that. It’s really up to you to take what you can (or not) and do what you want with it.

To me, I think this is nothing more than a way to get people’s attention and make more money. I mean, isn’t that why we do business in the first place?

So if you buy this book or not, it is completely up to you. Do I recommend it? Sure, why not. It’s a decent read and you will still get some motivation and tips on how to make more money.

You might not be a millionaire, but you sure can do a lot more than $20,000 a year if you change the way you think, so get rid of the negativity and let’s make some money!
