Rodan + Fields Review
Summary
Name: Rodan & Fields
Owners: Dr. Katie Rodan & Dr. Kathy Fields
Website: www.rodanandfields.com
Type of Business: MLM
Overall Rating: 2.5/5 stars
Rodan & Fields is a rapidly growing Multilevel marketing company and has gotten a lot of publicity as of late.
Their products were previously sold in high end departments stores but are now being concentrated on sales through consultants.
They expanded into Canada in February of 2015 and have announced another country involved in their international launch to happen this month.
Their recent international growth shows some promise for this company.
Their launch in Canada was four times the size of their launch in the US and the recent announcement of a launch in Australia is expected to be of the same size if not bigger.
With all of this hype and publicity, there must be some analyzation of the company and it’s legitimacy.
This review will attempt to accomplish that goal and give you some clarity on whether or not R & F could be the right business opportunity for you and your lifestyle.
What is Rodan & Fields?
Rodan & Fields is a Multilevel Marketing skincare company, which is distributed through the sales of their consultants.
Created by Doctors Rodan and Fields, the company was designed to help you look and feel younger, very similar to its competition, Nerium.
Much like many others, it is a company which provides incentives for consultants to recruit and spread the company to their friends and family.
Who is Rodan & Fields For?
This company would be a good choice for anyone who is friendly, outgoing, and convincing or really just great at selling things.
If you can relay facts well and would initially be a good salesperson, then R & F could be for you.
On the other hand, if being social and at times invasive is not something that has your name on it, this may not be the company for you.
This can be basically anyone, but usually tends to be middle aged women and sometimes men who are wanting to take charge of their work schedules and probably even quit that j-o-b.
The usual reason for beginning Multilevel Marketing is for the consultants to have more time for their hobbies and/or children along with financial freedom.
What Makes R & F Different From Other Skin Care Lines?
Rodan & Fields actually has a great portfolio, if you will.
The products were developed by the same doctors as the well known Proactiv line, which has been advertised on television for years.
Almost everyone you meet will say they have heard of it if you were to ask them and I’m almost certain that you have heard of it too.
This has been a big selling point for the company, along with the awards they have gotten, which is why this is probably the biggest skin care company out there.
In 2015, Rodan & Fields was recognized as the #2 Premium Skincare Brand in the US and it has also been deemed the #1 Fastest Growing Skincare Brand over the past 5 years.
It has also been featured in Oprah Magazine, New Beauty, Allure and Vogue. These are big accomplishments and have caused the Multilevel Marketing aspect of this company to be very successful.
The Remaining Issue
That being said, it is important to keep in mind that Multilevel Marketing companies are just that, Multilevel Marketing companies.
There will never be one that is free of at least a little corruption, because that is what comes with the pyramid-like set up of their business model and its “employees.
The incentives offered to consultants higher up on the pyramid force the money to be unevenly divided up–giving little opportunity to the consultants lower in the company.
At that point, those newer consultants are forced to recruit enough new consultants to then make money off of.
This, however, is how many of these companies work, so if that system is something you are interested in joining, then Rodan and Fields could be one of the bigger companies you could choose from.
So How do I Become a Rodan & Fields Consultant?
If this sounds like a company you could be interested in, the process to become a consultant is done online and usually requires an up-line (sponsor).
However, with Rodan and Fields, you could still join if you weren’t introduced to the company by anyone.
You go to rodanandfields.com and go through the shown process.
A $45 purchase of a Business Portfolio is required in order to start working as a Consultant, which does not include any products.
The Product
Rodan & Fields sells their skincare in four product categories:
- Redefine: For aging
- Reverse: for uneven skin tone/ age or sun spots
- Unblemish: for acne/breakouts
- Sooth: for sensitive/irritated skin conditions
These each come with multiple products which make up the product line.
Along with those lines, Rodan & Fields also has body and makeup products, but these four categories are the main ones being sold.
How Much Does it Cost?
Each product category has a range of prices for their products.
- Redefine product line: 20 available products ranging from $84 to $199.
- Reverse product line: 11 products ranging from $99 to $190.
- Unblemish product line: 6 products ranging from $30 to $180
- Soothe product line: 6 products ranging from $84 to $170
–Enhancements & Essentials: 15 products ranging from $26 to $150
–Men’s beyond the shave: $180
These prices are pretty expensive, but are at the same time very similar to other skincare product lines being sold through multilevel marketing companies like ARIIX.
Another thing to keep in mind about these products is that similar products can be purchased at beauty supply stores with similar results but being a consultant does have its perks.
What are the benefits of being a consultant?
Being a consultant for R & F allows you the opportunity to buy all products sold to customers at a lower price. Consultants even have their own line of products:
- Enhancements Micro-Dermabrasion Paste Packets: $32
- Maximum D3 Vitamin D Supplement (5-pack): $9.50
- Big Business Launch Kit: $695
- Business Portfolio: $45
- Business Kit Booster Pack- $395
- On-the-go Pack: $174
- Personal Results Kit: $395
- Redefine Acute Care Singles Pack: $165
- RF Express: $995
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Product is trusted
- Owners are actual doctors
- Can make you extra money
Cons:
- Uses a pyramid style business structure
- No guarantees
- Kind of pricey
- Based off of recruiting
- Not for everyone
Is Rodan & Fields a Scam?
Rodan & Fields is definitely not a scam. Their many awards and well known and educated founders show that there are legitimate beginnings and grounds to this company.
The bottom line
With all of this information explained, the next step is to determine how you and your lifestyle would fit into this company or one like it. As mentioned before, Multilevel Marketing is in no way a perfect career for everyone.
That being said, R & F is definitely not a scam and would be a great company to consider when looking into options for a Multilevel Marketing career.
Final Opinion of Rodan & Fields
If you are looking to purchase these products, maybe without doing the whole recruiting thing, it might be for you.
Then again, you will need to spend more, which is a huge marketing point on why most people end up joining the whole business side of things.
Rodan & fields is probably the top skin care MLM on the market today, so definitely consider this if you are into skin care and/or looking younger.
Now if you’re looking at this as a way to make extra money, I wouldn’t recommend it.
With something called affiliate marketing, I have finally found a way to make money from home without having to recruit my best friend’s aunt’s cat to do so.
Read more here on the same company that taught me everything I know about making money online and see why I no longer have to piss people off through my latest and greatest business opportunities.
Other than that, thanks for reading my Rodan and Fields review and hopefully I have given you all the information you need to know about this company before you do decide to join.
If you still have any questions, please leave them in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Until next time, be scam smart and always do your research.
Cheers!

John, I agree with you that Rodan and Fields is ‘legit’ as you say. But I would add this disclaimer, ‘but not recommended’, that’s for sure!!!! I have been doing my own good amount of research on Rodan and Fields and created my own R + F review: http://bankrollbreakthrough.com/rodan-and-fields-scam-review/ . The stuff I found was shocking! 40% of women see no positive effects after using their totally-overpriced skincare line, but worse, their products are riddled with absolutely TOXIC chemicals! Women high and low have skin reactions. They even offer an on-call nurse due to such matters. It is absolutely astounding. Check out all the dirt I found about R + F. Ick, Ick, Ick!
Yikes! Thanks for the heads-up man!
