Free Website Traffic Stats – Where do you Rank?
Sometimes you don’t know where your traffic is coming from, which leads to a big loss to your business. Traffic is a big part of your online marketing and blogging efforts, so get the stats on the traffic that is coming (and going) to your website.
Google Analytics is the best way to track your website’s activities and will give you a lot of insight on what is going on with your website. I have been tracking my websites with Google Analytics and it has shown me a lot of things that I never thought was necessary when getting traffic to my site.
There are tools and software out there, but there is nothing out there that works better than Google Analytics. It is a totally free service and will show you more than just statistics on traffic.
Website Traffic
Traffic is going to be a big part of your website’s success and you will eventually need to know where this traffic is coming from. I don’t care what kind of scam you come across that tells you that you don’t need traffic, but they are wrong. Traffic is a must.
Traffic is one of the biggest things you will need in order to be successful online, if not the biggest. I remember when I first started blogging, it was one article that was bringing in ALL of my traffic. All that time I was thinking that my sales were coming from different posts, but it was from that one article. It was like a one hit wonder, which I had to fix so that not just 1 article was doing it for me.
Yeah I was getting traffic, but if I didn’t see where it was coming from I would’ve never known that it was just one article getting traffic to my website. That is one thing I love about writing articles, once you rank with it, you will always get traffic, unless you lose your ranking.
Real-Time
You gotta love the real-time feature with Google Analytics. This will show you who is on your website right there and then. If you use Analytics and Google’s Webmaster Tools, you will get everything you need, for free.
When you setup your Google Analytics to your website, you can check the real time stats to see if Analytics is actually working on your website. Here is a quick video from a fellow member at Wealthy Affiliate, which will show you how to setup your Google Analytics account.
Other Great Features
The real-time stats are pretty impressive but there are a lot of other features that will help you see what happens on your website. From demographics to what country your visitor is from. Here are other features that you can see with Google Analytics.
1. Demographics
- Language
- Country/Territory
- City
2. System
- Browser
- Operating System
- Service Provider
3. Mobile
- Service provider
- Operating system
- Screen resolution
The one thing that helped me was the mobile feature. Seeing that a lot more people were using mobile devices to get to my site, I had to adjust fire and make sure my site was very mobile friendly. This too can help you tweak your site to fit your visitor’s experience on your site.
Stop Checking your Stats!
When I was first introduced to Google Analytics, it kind of took me away from what I was really trying to do online, which was make money. I was too busy checking the statistics from my site, which was nothing! The only thing I saw on there, was when I actually was on my site. Oh well, you live and you learn.
Although these tools will help you get valuable statistics to your website, you will probably get carried away like me. I suggest you wait until you can see a good amount of traffic to start seeing what pages are getting the best results.
I hope you found this article to be helpful to you and your website needs. Please like and share so others can benefit from this as well. Cheers!
