Too many people take on Internet Marketing forgetting about a couple of things, so I figured that there are some facts about internet marketing that every Internet Marketer must know.
A lot of us think that Internet Marketing is some get rich overnight kind of thing, but they end up finding out that that is not the case. Here are some things you should know, so you can decide if internet marketing is right for you.
1.) You will NOT Get Rich Overnight
Too many people get misled into thinking that they are going to become some kind of internet millionaire overnight, due to the extreme marketing that the online gurus show all over the net.
From the fancy cars, to the screenshots of how much the guru makes, they will all make you want to live that lifestyle. Welcome to the real world my friend, where that kind of stuff happens in your dreams. Unless…?
Now don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of rich people working from home, and making a lot of money, on autopilot. Main things is, it will not happen overnight.
2.) It Does Require you to Work
I remember when I first started doing business online. I was living with my mother and boy did she give me hell about being on the computer all day. She would tell me to go out there and get a “real job”, I really shake my head thinking about those days. If there was one thing I learned in the Army it was, “work smarter, not harder”. Not many people will ever understand that, but it has taken me a long way and has definitely helped with my decision about doing internet marketing
Just like anything in life, you need to work. Yes there are those (you might be one) that live on welfare and what not but if you want to get anywhere in life, you will need to work and the same thing applies with the online world.
If you want to do internet marketing, you need to understand that it is going to require you to “work”. I wouldn’t necessarily call online marketing work because I find it to be fun, especially with the amount of money that you can make. In all reality though, it will require you to work.
3.) Not Every Program Works
I am a firm believer that if you believe in something, it would work. At least it should work, right? In the online world, not every program works. Some might be good at one thing and others might be great at another. There are different programs on the internet that will show you how to do something that may work for you and it won’t for others.
With the different ways to make money online, you need to find the right program for you. 4.) You will Not Succeed on Your Own
I first started my online business trying to do everything on my own. Being as stubborn as I was, I thought I knew what I was doing. Thinking and knowing by the way, are two totally different things. Truth of the matter was, I had no clue as to what online marketing was.
This business is very easy but can be complicated if you try to do things without even knowing what you’re doing. You will then develop bad habits and of course that would me you don’t make money. Get help from other online marketers and you will start to do things the right way, over and over and over again. Then comes the money.
5.) There are Scams
You’re probably thinking that I mean scam by stealing your identity or something to that effect, but that is not the case when dealing with internet marketing. I’m talking about selling you some kind of internet marketing training, that will only make the person selling the product and the company money.
The internet is a great place to get scammed and it is something you need to be aware of. Hiding behind some computer screen trying to scam their next victim is a very unethical way to earn money. They know that they are really good at what they do, so they target the very vulnerable newbies.
6.) It is Very Time Consuming
Although there are ways to do business online and make money a fairly quickly, it won’t be that way in the beginning. I didn’t make my first sale as an internet marketer until my 3rd month into my online business.
Doing internet marketing will take a lot of your time, but it will pay off in the end. If you stick to everything that is being taught, you will start to see results and then it will only be a matter of scaling your business.
I say it is time consuming, but that is because you will be working from home, or wherever you want to work. It will actually take you a couple of hours a day, which is nothing, compared to a regular job. The beginning is always going to take the longest, but will eventually take less time as your business grows.
7.) Traffic is Key
I don’t care what anyone says about internet marketing and traffic being second, but that is totally misleading. Traffic is going to be the biggest thing any online marketing business will need.
Some may say conversions are priority, but how can you convert when no one is going to your site? Too many products out there that will make you think differently, but just believe me when I say that traffic is a must. No traffic = no conversions.
8.) Can Change your Life
If there is one thing that online marketing has done for me it would be that it definitely changed my life. Even though I still have to work on my business, it has allowed me to do things I would only dream of. Dream big my friend and you will get further than you think.
Just like you, I was in need of a serious change. I’m not going to tell you some sob story, but I can say that I was tired of living the 9-5 and I myself needed a breakthrough. Of course, internet marketing came along and that is what has changed my life, forever.
9.) Can Be Overwhelming
Along with the hard work and the time it takes to start an online business, internet marketing can be a bit overwhelming. I mean, what job isn’t?
Sitting behind a computer can be tiresome, especially if you don’t have the right working environment. I have kids, so I have to find the time (when they’re sleeping) to run my business, which is not a problem to me.
There is a learning curve when it comes to online marketing and the training and information can be overwhelming. Once you get everything down packed, then it will be like checking email.
10.) Is Not a Walk in the Park
Most of what I discussed adds up to the final fact. Someone can sit there and tell you that internet marketing is easy and whatever, but the truth is, it is not. Maybe when you become a little more familiar with everything, then you will be the one telling the next newbie how easy it is.
For the most part, it will be a little complicated and will require you to dedicate a lot of time to learning how everything’s done. Just like anything out there, it is not going to be easy. Work hard now, play harder later.
