I have been in the Internet Marketing industry for many years now, and I don’t think there is any method that has slipped through the cracks that I haven’t seen or even tried myself.
In this article, I want to answer the age-old question: Do traffic exchanges really work?
The short answer is yes AND no.
But I am going to lean more towards no, however, I am going to get more into the specifics in this article.
I am going to explain why they do work and why they don’t work, and what you can do to get the most benefits from your traffic exchange efforts.
Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
What Is A Traffic Exchange?
First and foremost, I want to let you know what the entire purpose of a traffic exchange is before we move forward.
Basically, a traffic exchange is a website where you view someone else’s page/advertisement and in return you gain 1 credit.
For every credit you gain, you expose your own advertisement or page to someone else who’s using the same traffic exchange.
If you view 1000 different pages/advertisements, your OWN advertisement will be shown to a random 1000 members who are using the same site too.
This for that.
Why Most People Fail At Using Traffic Exchanges
Because a traffic exchange is JUST that, a website to view other people’s advertisement, and your audience (the people who are viewing your ad) don’t actually care what you have to offer.
As they are there for one thing, and one thing only – to get that initial credit.
99% of traffic exchange users fail at getting any sort of decent use out of them is simply because they place affiliate links as their ad and hope and pray someone’s going to buy.
Not going to happen.
You will see it on every single traffic exchange, pitch after pitch, from desperate people trying to make some sort of income for their efforts.
This is not the way to go about it as an affiliate marketer, so please don’t waste your time here.
If you want to make money with your affiliate link and you think this is the way to go, you might want to go back to the drawing board and learn about affiliate marketing before you eventually quit.
What You Should Do Instead
To get ANYTHING good out of your traffic exchange efforts, you should focus on building a list.
None of these people are going to buy off you in the first pitch, but you can capture their email address first so you can promote to them over and over again.
I highly recommend Aweber.
You will also need a website or hosting company that will host your landing page that you create.
Not to mention that you have to learn how to create a landing page in the first place.
You also have to know what to give your audience to make them hand their email address over as well, because it’s not as easy as it sounds.
But more on that below.
Do’s and Dont’s
We will talk more about what you should do next in a second.
I just want to recap and remind you about all the dos and don’ts so you don’t move forward thinking you can keep doing what you’re already doing.
This will only result in you working for free and not getting anything back for the amount of work you are doing.
So here’s the things I recommend you start doing if you want to end up making money with traffic exchanges:
Do’s
- Create a landing page and begin capturing email addresses (create an e-book and offer it in exchange for their email address). Your target audience is interested in making money online. So your niche will have to be that
- Promote that page ONLY.
- In your followup series you should be focusing on sending them to your favorite traffic exchange website. Because the more referrals you have the more credits you can gain on autopilot, meaning more subscribers on autopilot too
- Sign up to at least 10 different traffic exchange websites, keep them all in different tabs and surf them all at the same time for maximum results
- Surf for at least 1 hour per day with the methods I have mentioned above, because consistency is key here
Don’ts
- Do not surf just one traffic exchange at a time, you’ll be there forever trying to get leads
- Do not expect a large amount of leads per day using this method, or even a fast amount of money for that matter, this is a marathon not a sprint
- Do not advertise two pages, getting one successful business up and running is hard enough as it is, let alone two
- Do not try and promote affiliate links inside the traffic exchange website, thinking you will get the odd sale every now and then, because it will never happen
Do I Recommend Traffic Exchanges?
To be totally honest with you, I have done the whole traffic exchange thing before, while I was also in it for a very long time, so I know the ins and outs to them.
But the amount of work you have to put into them is not worth the rewards that you get out of it.
Even though it is possible to get subscribers to your landing page, it is at an incredibly slow pace, meaning you will not see any money for your work for a very, VERY long time.
I’m talking 6 months to even 1 year before you can get your subscribers to purchase something.
You have to keep in mind that your audience are freebie-seekers, making it incredibly hard to make a sale.
So no, I do not recommend traffic exchanges to be a viable business opportunity.
While you’re slowly building a list with the different traffic exchange websites, you could be building your very OWN, REAL online business in the process and getting more rewards for your work efforts.
I found something that worked for me and it’s something you should check out too.
What I Recommend
After all the scams and penny making sites, I knew there had to be a way to make a solid income online.
If it wasn’t for Wealthy Affiliate, I would never be where I am today.
I got out of the MLM scams, I escaped the trap of thinking I could become rich overnight just by using traffic exchanges, I found a WAY!
And the best part about it?
You can be in ANY niche you want, you won’t be tied down to a make money online niche.
If you are really passionate about something you can turn it into a real business and a full-time income if you put in the work.
Traffic exchanges just don’t work liked they used to and I think you will be wasting your time.
That’s what I think.
Cheers!
