Finding a niche can already be a daunting task, because too many online marketers, don’t know where to get started. Choosing the right domain name for your online business would be another animal on its own, but I will show you how to pick the perfect domain name for your niche of choice.
Being new to the online world, choosing a domain can be a bit confusing and it doesn’t help that most of them are taken. Your domain name will represent you, and I will show you why it needs to fit you.
Should I Buy a Domain Name?
Although there are free domain names out there, I highly recommend you purchase your own. Not only is it inexpensive, but you can do so much with that little piece of online real estate and of course you can always sell it for more than double the price.
Did you know that domain names sell for millions of dollars? Maybe not a lot, but there are some that have sold for that much money. See the list of most expensive domain names and you will see what I am talking about.
You can always resell a domain name and of course you would raise the price. There are people out there that will pay some good money just to own something so simple as a domain name.
Let the Search Begin
Finding a unique name is probably not going to be that easy and you might as well give up on finding a one word domain name because they are pretty much extinct. If you can find a “one word” domain that is available, I would like to see it. Please?
I know people will tell you that it is hard to find, but depending on your niche, I think you can find a unique name specifically for your online business.
There are several sites that can help you with your domain search and you can see a list here. I personally use good ole Godaddy.com and I play with their domain search feature to find anything that is available.
If you’re into online marketing, and you want to find a domain name that gets a good amount of traffic, I recommend a keyword tool called Jaaxy. Other than that, remember that it is not going to be easy to find that perfect name, unless you have a really unique word/s to use.
Why The .COM
Before, the .com was actually the most recognized in regards to the search engines. Not only did Google easily rank the .com, but it was also the most used and the easiest to remember.
No one really knew about .net or .org until recently. Nowadays, you can rank just as easy with a .org. or a .net just as you would a .com.
When I first started doing business online, I thought you could only use the .org for government sites and what not, but you can actually use it for whatever you want. Hey, you learn something new everyday right?
Branding Yourself
I never really understood this until I started to build up my site (not this one). Once I started adding content, that is when I started to feel that I owned something that represented me.
When you handle your site and choose your domain name, remember that there is a face (not literally) that goes with it.
You are writing and creating content for your readers, so if your’e an affiliate marketer and you’re not making any money, that might be your problem.
Show people you mean business and you run the show. When you OWN your own website, there is so much authority that comes with your site, it starts to become really fun.
Domain Names for an Online Business
There are so many benefits of running an online business, and finding a domain name is usually not a problem.
When you do business online, there is this thing called long tailed keywords, which is perfect for finding a domain name that converts.
If your website was about something like yoga, you can easily get a domain name like yogaforrockclimbers.com and get a good amount of traffic with that specific domain name.
Once you scale that website and create good quality content, the money will eventually start to flow in. Find a domain name that best suits your niche and get a move on.
Don’t Waste Time
When you do your research for that “perfect domain name”, try not to take too much time searching. Get one with a nice ring to it and get started with your site.
When I started, I made that very mistake of finding that perfect domain name and it did nothing but set me back.
Just because I said not to take too much time, it doesn’t mean to pick the first thing that pops up, because if you dig deep enough, you’ll find a great one.
I hope this article helps you in choosing the right domain name for your online business and you find success with the online world. Don’t be afraid to ask any questions in regards to online marketing or anything online, period. Good luck and I wish you nothing but success. Cheers!
