So you’ve joined a multilevel marketing company thanks to the hype that was presented to you and now you’re wondering how in the world can you get others interested in your opportunity so you can be part of the 1% that actually works from home full-time.
Before you can become the next best recruiter in your industry, there are several things that you need to understand before you head out there and start off on the wrong foot.
Personally, I have had my time with network marketing but I just so happened to run across affiliate marketing and it set me on a completely different path.
However, both businesses have the same practice and most especially require the same strategies in order to succeed, so I’m sure these tips will help you 100%.
So if you’re looking to succeed with network marketing, let me show you some of the stuff that big time marketers are using to get their leads and sales.
This is also what I used to get me a nice little income as a network marketer but it most especially put me over the $10k/month mark with my personal business.
Take it for what it’s worth but I can promise you that if you apply this to your business, it will help you get to a level most people only dream of.
1.) Get With the Program – That Works For You
Too many people join SOMEONE simply because of the many reasons anyone ever does such a thing.
- They felt pressured
- The presentation sounded so awesome
- They felt sorry for the person selling to them
- They were only trying to help
- They need the products
Whatever the reason was, you need to think about what will work best for YOU.
If you’re a dude and you gave into someone selling Avon, do you really think that you can go out there selling those products?
I know a person who tried to sell me Herbalife and they weren’t even using the products!
How crazy is that?
The point I am trying to make here is that you need to go with something that you like and not something that someone else just sold you.
Even if you just joined, you can always get out and get into something that will suit you best.
This also goes along with my next tip, so use them both wisely.
2.) Know That People Join People
Some of you might know this but when doing network marketing, it is very much a people business.
Yes, you need some type of product to make it happen but the selling is all about you.
It’s about you and how you present yourself, your products, and most especially how you come off as.
Are you too “salesy”?
Are you showing them that you are simply wanting them to join you so that you can make money?
In the world of network marketing, people join people and that’s really all there is to it.
If my niece that is as thin as a toothpick can join a weight-loss company just because of I don’t even know what her reason is, then that just shows you that you can really sell anything to anyone.
Others will join you because of you and not because of your product although you still want to have one that you actually use and are most especially passionate about.
Hey, this also leads into my next tip, so let’s get right into it.
3.) Be Passionate – About Everything
I know it might sound confusing but just bare with me as this whole recipe needs to come together if you really want to be a successful network marketer.
One thing will need the other and in most cases will not work alone, so try to understand where I’m coming from here.
Although people do join people, you need to use your product as leverage as without one, then you really don’t have a business and you might very well be involved with some type of MLM ponzi scheme.
Are you really into your product that you can actually say you really like them?
There are literally hundreds of MLM companies out there and there is no reason why you need to settle with the one presented to you.
If you simply don’t know of any of them, this list will help you.
Now whatever you decide to go with, make it one that you are truly passionate about.
Remember now, people can and will see right through you, so don’t set yourself up for failure.
Again, this leads right into my next tip, so I like where this is going.
4.) Be Honest
No one likes a liar and the same thing applies to network marketing.
One thing you need to understand is that most people are already familiar with what an MLM is and how it works, so don’t go trying to tell them something that they probably already know.
MLM’s main focus is about recruiting and I’m sure everyone knows that.
If your product is X amount of dollars, don’t try to tell them that it is a lower price just to get them to join you and then have them pay something else later on down the road.
Trust is a huge part of your business so don’t lose that or you will simply not make it.
5.) Understand Your Business
When telling someone about your business, let them in on EVERYTHING.
By being transparent, you again gain trust but it leaves your downline in the know, leaving them to feel like they have accomplished a lot.
As a network marketer, compensation plans can be beyond confusing so you will need to know what you are talking about so that that person knows they are joining someone who knows what they are doing.
There are too many times that I get approached by someone and their business and they tell me half the story and then it gets to a point where they are like, “I’ll get back to you on that one”.
It’s completely understandable if you are new, but get involved in your business and let your passion work its charm.
This also goes hand in hand with trust, so be the expert in your field and if you aren’t already, make it a point to learn the stuff that you know your potential downline will have questions about.
6.) Understand the Industry
Most people get turned off when it comes to MLM because the statistics really do say a lot.
What they fail to understand is that the same stats go right along with any business but we still tend to give no credit to network marketing.
The same amount of people will fail in the network marketing field as will those that attempt to do an actual business.
I do affiliate marketing full-time and even in that business will the same 1% succeed.
If you want to succeed with network marketing you need to become apart of that very small group of people who are actually making it.
Let that sink in and if MLM is what you want to do, then don’t let anyone stop you.
7.) Leave Friends and Family Out of it
Welcome to 2018.
When it comes to network marketing, I will never recommend you talk to family and friends as there is a lot more bad that can come out of it than good.
Back in the day, I remember being told to attack your family and friends because they are a “warm market” but it always ends the same way.
One, even if they did join me, they would end up quitting and two, they will always look at you as “the person to avoid” because you are always trying to sell something.
Thanks to this thing called the internet, you are able to talk to people who are actually interested in the same things that you are, so there isn’t that need of feeling that your immediate circle is the only way for you to get others into your business.
8.) Don’t Worry About Everyone Else
You will always have doubters, haters, and whatever else you want to call them.
These same people don’t have the same goals as you do and that is not your problem.
I know this to be true because I come from a very traditional family that believes in getting a job, setting yourself up for retirement, and all the typical stuff that comes with anyone in the rat race.
Everyone is going to talk and have their two cents but make it a point to not let them bother you.
Running a business is the way to go and if you can’t think like a 1%-er then you might as well kiss your bosses behind because you aren’t going to succeed with network marketing.
9.) Adjust Your Network
“You are the sum of 5 of your closest friends”.
I really don’t know how that saying goes but I’m sure you understand what I’m trying to say.
If you’re anything like me, I was around the same group of people I grew up with heading into my adult life and these are not your college bound or business type of people.
They were into the normal life, getting a job, and dealing with the same routine every single day.
They also come with the same negative attitude and different goals from entrepreneurs like you and me.
It might be one heck of a task but you NEED to get with people who share the same wants and needs.
Stick around the same group of friends you have now and you will not make it in business.
I’m not trying to tell you to cut anyone off but try to minimize the time you spend with these people and try to connect with others that are actually successful in life.
10.) Treat Your Business Like the Business it is
I’m not sure if you know this but the MLM you are in is no different than the coffee shop I’m writing this post from.
If you are going to treat it like a day job then you won’t take things very far.
Build, grow, and nurture your business like a baby.
It needs to be catered to and it is going to require a lot of attention.
Take that passion and all the other tips I’ve mentioned so far and apply it to your business if you want to treat it like one.
If you want this to replace your day job, you need to treat it like the same job that is putting food on your table.
Don’t wait until it starts making you money either.
Even if you have zero people under you right now, just understand that it’s really only a matter of time before you pick up momentum to get you going.
11.) Brand Yourself
This is very critical and is needed for the modern world we live in.
Remember how I mentioned that people join people?
That comes into play here as others want to see who you are and what you stand for.
If you come off as lazy and not the helping type, how is anyone going to trust you?
By branding yourself and creating that image of who you really are, others will remember and ultimately trust you no matter what.
12.) Don’t Be Afraid to Fail
Failure is apart of life and most especially as a businessman.
There is not one person I know that has struck gold with the first business venture and you shouldn’t expect to either.
This is also a very good reason as to why there is only 1% of the population that will ever succeed with network marketing, affiliate marketing, or any business for that matter.
When my first attempt at business failed, I will admit that it did suck but I used it as a learning experience and more of a blessing in disguise.
That business was really going nowhere and if I didn’t fail at that, I wouldn’t be doing what I do now.
Failing at something will only make you stronger and it will ultimately lead to more knowledge and a much better businessman.
13.) Get Trained
We all know that most of us were not built for network marketing and that is completely fine.
However, there are a few programs out there that will teach you a lot of the stuff I talk about in this post and a big part of the reason is that I actually learned it from there.
Thanks to programs like My Lead System Pro, you can become successful at network marketing without even doing it in the past.
From branding yourself all the way to closing out sales, that same exact program will show you how to become one heck of a network marketer.
This is also why you do not need your family and friends to help you with your business.
14.) Manage Your Contacts
There is nothing better than having a customer relationship manager tool of some sort to help you understand your prospects.
If you are still writing down names and storing them in some address book, I think it’s time you get with the program.
With a CRM you are able to track all your leads, place little notes, and contact them directly from the program itself.
Someone not cooperating?
Give them a low rating and put them at the bottom of your priority list.
Those are several things you can do with that nice little tool, so I suggest you get yourself one.
15.) Get a Website
Living in the digital age, you would be crazy not to own your very own piece of online real estate.
Throwing some posts about your business or on topics related to it is a great way to get super targeted traffic.
Doing this is not just a great way to expand your reach as a network marketer but it is a great way to make money.
Period.
I have been making money online for 4 years now and I have blogs built around a thing called niche marketing.
By targeting a very specific topic (MLM in this case) you can build a whole business around that and get fresh leads every single day.
Every business owner should have their own website and as a network marketer, this will be your vehicle to driving and converting traffic that can keep flowing if you really wanted it to.
16.) Do Not Recruit
Remember how people join people?
Well that’s what it needs to be, so don’t go trying to be some type of recruiter because this is not the military.
Show your new prospect that you are there to help.
Show them you are going to be some type of sponsor and not just another crazy marketer that’s trying to get you to join their so called “team”.
Do things the recruiting way and you can expect to lose a lot of quality people that might actually help you if you did things the right way from the beginning.
17.) Help, Don’t Sell
People don’t like to be sold to and that’s just how it is.
I’m sure we have all had that knife or vacuum person come over to our house trying to sell us their products and sometimes we did give into their marketing tactics.
That type of selling works great for those guys but not so much with network marketing.
You need to understand that as humans, we don’t like to be pushed into doing anything.
If you chose that product that works for you, why not let it do the selling?
Find that group of people that need your product and simply show it to them.
“Hey, this is what you’ve been looking for”.
They will be happy you showed them exactly what they are looking for and thank you rather than look at you as another sleezy marketer.
18.) Solve Problems
This is what needs to be done with any business.
As a fast food joint, you need to give people food and you need to give it to them fast.
If you can do exactly that, you can very much run a successful franchise like McDonald’s.
As a network marketer you need to do the same.
If someone wants to lose weight, you might just be that guy or gal that has the solution to their problem.
Now who does not need to make more money?
By having a product to help them with life and then a chance to make some money in the process, don’t you think they would go for it?
Always try to solve someone’s problem rather than trying to sell products.
19.) Always Follow Up
The money is in the follow-up.
I have heard this many times and I can’t stress about how important this is if you want to succeed with network marketing.
Just because someone said no the first time around does not mean they don’t want anything to do with you.
Sometimes it was just bad timing or they might not have gotten paid and didn’t want to feel embarrassed.
No matter what happened that they didn’t join you on that first meeting, always follow up and see if they might still be interested in your offer.
You will most likely get a bunch of no’s but there is always going to be those that want and need what you have to offer that will eventually say yes.
This is also where that CRM can come in handy.
20.) Get Social
These days many people are doing nothing but promoting their products on Facebook, Twitter, and now Instagram, which just so happens to work best for most MLM-ers.
Most of the stuff I’ve mentioned in this post can be done on social media so get with MLSP and start figuring out this whole social media marketing thing because it is really the only way to make it as an online marketer.
Everyone and their mothers are on these social networks and there is no better place to snag your next lead than on that same exact spot.
Heck you might have even seen some ads on your feed as there are so many people using this to help them become a successful network marketer.
This my friend is what will take your business to another level.
Master just one of the major social media channels and you can cash in on some big bucks if done correctly.
Conclusion
Anyone can succeed with network marketing.
I don’t care if you’re an introvert that thinks a 9-5 is all you can handle, these tips should help you understand what is really possible.
Thanks to the internet, network marketing is a lot easier than it was in the 90’s so don’t think that you are at a disadvantage.
If there’s one thing that needs to be done, it would have to be to keep doing it over and over again.
Practice Practice Practice!
Just like anything else out there, you need to keep doing whatever it is that you are doing if you really want to be good at it.
It might not make you perfect but if you follow a schedule and treat this like a real business, you will soon head out that door, head up, ready to land that next downline.
The last thing I would like to leave you with is this.
DO. Not. Quit.
Things are always going to be a little rocky especially when you are just starting out.
Just because your neighbor’s cousin told you no does not mean it is the end of your network marketing career.
Do remember to follow up, but if they still don’t budge, move on to someone who can appreciate your products and the help that I hope you plan on giving.
I hope this post will help you become that network marketer that can actually say they work from home one day.
All I have to say is take action, never let anyone tell you what to do, and please do not quit.
If you follow these tips I’m sure you can join me and the rest of the 1% out there so don’t look back.
Thanks for reading and good luck!
