Veterans get a lot of benefits, but some of us want to do more. I have gathered a couple of jobs that can be done completely online and I wanted to share them with my fellow service members that are looking to generate more money, find a better job, or just something to do because you are just bored.
There are a lot of things that we Veterans can do, but I have decided to take the online route after serving 10 years with the United States Army (Hooah!). Let me show you how I went from a ground pounding infantryman to a full-time online businessman.
Who I Am
Well you know that I was a veteran of 10 years and I was apart of the 101st Airborne Division, the home of the Screaming Eagles. I did two tours with them, both to Iraq. One in 2003 and then again in 05′.
I was a scout for the 502nd infantry regiment so yes I’ve had my share of hooah-ness. I am Airborne and Air Assault qualified so I know how to bang with the best of them.
With that being the building blocks for my life, I learned a big part about life especially after seeing my first deployment at the age of 18. Although I am proud of what I’ve done, I knew that being deployed all the time wasn’t going to be the right lifestyle for me and the children I wanted to make.
I then had my first son and the rest was history. I am now a full-time online marketer and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Alright this is not my biography but I’m pretty sure you’ve learned enough about me in just this one paragraph. Be quiet John and tell me what jobs I can do online.
So you’re probably wondering what I do that could possibly make me work completely full-time online and still make a living. The first “job” is exactly what I do and it is also the same thing that made me kick my 9-5 to the curb and get me out of the military.
1. Affiliate Marketing
I know you’re probably like WTF, you can’t make money blogging! Trust me guys, I am not even the “blogger” type but there is more to it than just talking about nonsense. Here is how it works and how you can make money by blogging.
- Pick something you are passionate about or find interest in
- Create a website (it’s easier than you think)
- Monetize your site
- Make money
Although it may sound really easy, there is a lot more to it than you think. It is going to require you to setup your website in a way that you can promote other people’s products (or yours) and make a commission in the process.
I recommend the Wealthy Affiliate, which is the same place that got me started with my online career. Here you will learn EVERYTHING about how to make money online and there is a very active community of members that will help you get started.
The best thing about affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to own your own products, you don’t have to do the whole recruiting thing that comes with network marketing, and you are your own boss. Did I mention that you work from home?

2. Sell Yourself!
I don’t mean go and stand in the corner and wait for someone to pick you up either. There are services on sites like Fiverr.com that allows you to sell your service to other people for $5. You can always earn more, but everything usually starts at five bucks.
You’ll be amazed at what people are selling on that site. From writing for other people, to creating videos of you promoting their product.
If you have something you think you can do for other people, you might want to give this a try. I know it’s only $5 but it can add up fairly quickly. See more on Fiverr here and see what services are already provide there.
3. Become a Virtual Assistant
I know things are pretty crazy these days and almost everything is done online. I recently saw a commercial on some babysitting site and that really blew my mind. Personally, I wouldn’t use that service, but that is just one of the things that are currently being done online.
However, being a virtual assistant is a lot different. There is no meeting in person but you will be working directly with someone.
What you will be doing
You will be doing things like setting up a schedule, working with PDF files, and some computer programming just to name a few. You can check out sites like Elance.com, which has a bunch of people looking for you to do these tasks virtually.
Some people pay pretty well, but most jobs start below $10 an hour. Depending on your relationship with the person and your quality of work, you can get a raise and some people pay a lot of money for great assistants.
Conclusion
I hope you have found a couple of solid jobs that you can do online that will help you rake in a little more cash. If you have any questions about these jobs or about something else you can do, feel free to leave them in the comments section below.
I hope that you can create a full-time income in the process, which I know is more than possible. Like I said, I am a full-time online marketer and I am more than willing to show you exactly how things are done online.
Us veterans deserve a lot more for the job we have done and one way to reward yourself is by creating a solid online business that can pay you a lot more than a regular 9-5 can.
To whatever it is you decide to do, I wish you the best and I thank you for your service. Cheers!
