You’ve probably seen the little blue alligator all over the place, whether it was on a Youtube video or on some kind of banner ad, he’s been around. In this review of Hostgator I want to share my personal experience with this company and whether or not I would recommend it to anyone trying to get some hosting for their website.
Product Overview
Host Gator is a web hosting company which does just that. It is probably the biggest web hosting company out there and obviously they have a very huge advertising budget being that you see that lil guy all over the place
I have had my sites hosted at Hostgator before, until I decided to take on affiliate marketing, and now have all my sites hosted at the same place I learn and earn.
Who This is for
Host gator is for anyone looking for a place to store their website content, especially if you have more than one. This is great for anyone who has a little bit of knowledge about websites and is looking to save a couple of bucks.
I think I got one of the biggest headaches trying to get a couple of my websites hosted at hostgator.com. Obviously the advertising and promotion of this hosting company is working, because I pretty much jumped into this hosting provider headfirst.
Now, I pay $47 a month to host all my websites as well as market my products and make money online. Hosting is a must if you want to own a piece of online real estate, so don’t think there’s any way around it.
Hosting with Host Gator
When I did use Host Gator to host my websites they were of course good at what they do. The speed was awesome and I never had a problem with any of my websites.
The price with Host Gator is probably the cheapest as well. Unless of course you plan to host a bunch of sites then it will definitely add up. There are also discounts with Host Gator and you can definitely save with these.
The Downside With Hostgator
Don’t think that Hostgator is all fine and is super easy to get started with, because it is not. I am not the most computer savvy dude, but I do know A LOT about websites and how they function.
Installing a domain name with Hostgator is not the problem, it is installing additional domains that gave me a headache.I really wanted to smash my computer because it really frustrated the crap out of me.
Even when I did “install” another domain, it didn’t work. I waited another day to see if it was just a matter of waiting, still nothing. Let me just say that I have been doing business online for a while now and I have never had a problem like this before.
I hosted all my sites with Wealthy Affiliate, and they were doing just fine there. Not even Google could help me find the answer to this very complicated problem. True story.
Another thing I didn’t like was how 1980 everything looks. I am not the best web designer, but I think I could do a better job than what these guys did. I mean, cute alligator and all, but come on man!
Is there Support with Host Gator
I did need to contact support because one of my sites wasn’t working properly so I needed some assistance with that. They have a 24/7 support center that you can call and they will help you right on the spot.
The support with Host Gator is something I give credit to them for. The rep was very helpful and did everything to make my call worth the minutes. I think it’s about time I get an unlimited calling plan.
The Price
There are several plans to choose from with Host Gator and you can choose what plan best suits your web hosting needs. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect if you want their service.
Hosting starts at $3.69 a month, which is pretty reasonable and very affordable. There are however, 3 total hosting plans with Hostgator and I would recommend the “Baby” plan, if you are new to all this.
The Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Very affordable
- Quality hosting
- Great support
Cons:
- Very, very, hard to configure (additional domains)
- Website is not user friendly
- Website is outdated
Survey Says…
I really don’t think there are other hosting providers out there that can compete with these guys, especially with their fat advertising budget. I give this service a go and I do recommend it.
Host Gator is definitely One of the best if not the best web hosting provider on the internet even if there aren’t many to compare it to. If you have any problems configuring this stuff I’m sorry but I can’t help you there.
I hope you found this very short review of Hostgator to be of some use to you and hopefully you don’t have as much trouble as I did. Good luck!

some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything.
