Do It Works Wraps Really Work? Reviews From an Actual User

I have had the opportunity to try It Works body wraps as of course I was approached by one of its affiliates, who just so happens to be my niece.

So unlike all the It Works reviews out there that are straight from speculation, this is results from someone who has actually tried the wraps.

So we have the wraps, which is their main product and one that existed all by itself and then now there has been more added that I find to be a little on the iffy side.

On the other hand, thee is always the business opportunity and one that usually gets taken over by hype when it comes to network marketing and playing the whole recruiting game.

For me, I like great products and I also like doing business, so It Works definitely crossed my mind as there were so many claims that these wraps in fact worked.

Every single multilevel marketing (MLM) business involved in the health and wellness niche will always come with controversy as the claims will never fly with the legal side of what these products claim to do.

“Increase energy”

“Help you lose weight faster”

and in this case, “make you lose fat with a wrap”.

Everything in this review is from my personal experience and what I actually think of these wraps.

The other products are nothing but a way to expand from something that isn’t what it really seems, so let’s focus on that product as well as the business side of things as that is what started this whole business in the first place.

I mean, Keto coffee?

If you know what Keto means then you will know that the high fat low carb diet does not have anything to do with coffee.

All I see there is another way to attract more members and a way to deviate from the wraps that “It Works” was built upon.

If the wraps were the main product and why everyone joined in the first place, why is it almost hidden from new members?

I have my take on that too so let’s get on with the show as I’m sure you could be building a real online business for yourself or binge watching on Netflix.

Product Overview

It Works was created by Mark and Cindy Pentecost, (a former high school teacher and home maker) back in 2001.

The company has grown from just wraps and creams to coffees and other things.

Hey I think I might just be a poet!

Anyways, the first encounter I have ever had with It Works was from the news or some other source, which talked about how Mark went from being a high school teacher to buying their very own private island.

Mind you, this was right around the time when I started my first network marketing business (Melaleuca).

So after joining my first MLM and then seeing how the owner of another MLM got rich, it made me wonder about this whole network marketing thing and who is really winning.

That of course led me to affiliate marketing and the whole turnaround of things, to finally making a full-time income completely online with the training and support from Wealthy Affiliate.

But let’s save that for another day as we are here to talk about some body wraps and how we can possibly make this a viable business. 

How It Works….Works

It Works, operates similarly to MLMs of every variety.

The business model is familiar to pretty much anyone who has familiarized themselves with companies like Tupperware: if you are interested in becoming a representative you buy in to the program.

Your entry money buys you information, as well as the right to sell their products for a commission.

Like most MLMs, the bulk of the money that you can make comes not just from selling the products (we will talk about what you will be selling in a minute) but also by getting other people to sign up for the program and become representatives themselves, which of course would be the network marketing side of things.

Getting involved in the program generally costs around $100 for a startup package but there are always all kinds of promotions that will have you spending more if you want to “fast track” your business.

So…It’s Like a Pyramid Scheme?

Not quite.

While the MLM and  pyramid scheme models  share some common ground, there is a key difference that makes one illegal, and the other a viable career option.

Like MLMs, people involved in pyramid schemes make their money by getting people involved with the program.

Unlike MLM, involvement is generally the only thing that the program has to offer.

In other words, the pyramid scheme circulates money to look like actual work is being done, while the MLM actually provides a good or service.

These days there are all kinds of pyramid schemes with crypto currency being a big one.

So if you come across anyone who is trying to get you to join their crypto style business, you can bet that about 99.9% of the time it is a pyramid/ponzi scheme that makes its money by newer members that join.

The Product

There are a few products out there that are associated with the It Works brand, but their main product is actually their body wrap—a material that is marketed around mitigating the effects of body flab and cellulite.

This is more or less the theme of most of their products. They also have a series of gels, creams, applicators, and supplements that are supposedly optimized for beauty and wellness.

The science behind whether or not these products actually work is specious at best but to be fair customer satisfaction with the products does seem to be fairly legitimate.

Legitimate but to a certain point and I will be giving my opinion on that later.

The nice thing about the It Works product line is that pretty much everything that they have to sell is something that customers will need to buy more of with regularity.

This means that if you are good at what you do, and you are able to establish a relationship with your clients, you can build a list of repeat customers that will help you create a steady income.

One thing that potential sales personal should take note of is that this company has a fairly low rating with the Better Business Bureau. This is primarily a result of the nature of their products.

As mentioned earlier, the science as to whether or not these products actually work is not exactly conclusive.

In fact, many knowledgeable parties advise against using body wraps for reasons that anyone considering using them should, at the very least, be aware of.

It is because of these potential concerns that this company has something of a controversial public image.

For some potential sales representatives, this reputation may both cause concern for the marketability of the products, and the ethics of selling them.

My thoughts and Actual Experience?

Let’s just say that I am about as skeptical as they come and I like to play inspector gadget before I do any praising or promoting of any product.

I do give them the benefit of the doubt, so yes, I did give the wraps a try.

My results:

Well, I did take a before picture just to compare things after I used the wraps.

For me, It Works, didn’t (it didn’t work).

But, I did give more wraps a try and the result was the same.

So being the little inspector I am, I actually compared my results with others and came up with a conclusion.

First, I think that this stuff CAN work for some but it is mainly for those that have an issue with actual fat.

I have seen some results with people that have a higher fat content rather than with people like me that kind of have this hard fat, if that’s what you want to call it.

Secondly, I see this as a temporary fix.

So when you remove the wraps and snap that pic, you will definitely see results.

Now whether or not this fat reduction will last, I really don’t think so.

Let’s talk a little about the business side of things and then I will get into my overall opinion on what I think is really behind the It Works business model.

Now if you are flat out looking for a way to make more money, you can always checkout my # recommended program as I’m sure that’s what a lot of you are looking for.

The products are at most fair, but not going to be worth the price tag.

The Comp Plan

As mentioned earlier the compensation plan is multi tiered.

I mean, it is “multilevel” marketing.

Sales staff earns a base commission of ten percent after they move at least $110 of product a month.

However, there is perhaps an even bigger incentive placed on making attracting new people to the sales staff.

Sales staff receives bonuses from establishing teams, and even from building long term customers that continue to buy product, month after month.

This all sounds pretty aright, doesn’t it?

Well, before you get too excited you should note that most MLM sales representatives are not exactly getting rich.

In fact, most don’t even break even and that is just the reality of how every network marketing business.

If you take a look at the It Works income disclosure below, you will see exactly what its members are making.

They haven’t updated it but trust me, it is not any better than what you see below.

These trends indicate that the majority of MLM sales representatives are only going to bring home a few hundred dollars a year from their efforts, if that.

Do remember that this goes with any other MLM company, so go at this with an open mind and understand that these statistics are the way they are for a reason.

So is It Works a Scam?

Does this in and of itself indicate that the world of MLMs is a scam?

Not necessarily.

What it really means is that this field is filled with a lot of people not quite ready or capable of handling the work.

If you are a people person and a self starter, you can still make a good supplemental income from participating in an MLM like It Works.

So, does It Works actually work?

As you can see, there are things to like about this MLM, and thinks that you probably weren’t extremely crazy about.

The truth of the matter is that this is the reality of most MLMs.

Some people work really well in this field of work, while many others ultimately don’t. The odds might not be in your favor with the It Works, MLM, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should pass on pursuing work through this company.

What I Really Think

Now who in the world does not want to get rid of some fat without exercising?

That is the main reason why It Works really took off but I find things to be a little on the shady side.

As I see this as a temporary fix, what are you really selling?

Hype and an opportunity to make money?

That’s the way I see things and if you put that together with the income disclosure, I think this is not the way to go.

I have seen too many reps come and go (to include the people that tried to get me to join) and although I can say that they didn’t want it enough, I think that a product should work and do the selling itself.

There are several things that you need to ask yourself before you give into the hype as that is where most people make their mistakes.

With the hundreds of MLMs out there, why would this be the opportunity for you?

Are you only looking at this because you want/need to make more money?

We all have our reasons but I do hope that this It Works review has given you a better understanding of what you will be getting yourself into.

I’m sure any It Works member will disagree with what I have to say but again, that’s just how it is in the MLM industry.

I mean, would you like me telling people that a product sucks after you had just spent a couple hundred dollars?

Probably not.
