Learning how to write a good blog post that can eventually make you money is just like learning how to do anything else in life, and it is going to need this little thing they call practice. I know this sounds so cliche, but practice makes perfect my friend and the same thing applies to the online world and your writing practices.
Article marketing is the new way to promote products nowadays and there’s no better way to target the market than by writing great articles that get your reader’s attention.
The advantage of article marketing is the fact that you will be getting up close and personal with your readers (without the funk in your face), and they will feel exactly what you are trying to promote (indirectly of course).
Who are you Really Writing for?
Most people worry way too much about what Google thinks and they forget one thing. They forget that they are writing for a real live person and not some type of robot, like Google.
I don’t care how good your article ranks in the search engines, if you’re not writing like you’re writing for someone, then guess what? You won’t make sales. I’m pretty sure you’re writing these articles to make money right?
Blogging can be very, very profitable and that is if it’s done the right way. Have money and Google in the back of your mind and you’ll find yourself stuck at that 9-5 that you don’t even like. Follow along and I will show you how to write a single post, that will go from readers, straight to buyers.
How to Get Your Reader’s Attention
When you start off a post, you’ll have that general idea of what you’re going to write about. For example, if you’re going to write an article on “how to tie your shoe”, what would make this article stand out from the rest? A catchy header!
You probably didn’t notice this, but you have probably clicked on an article, just because of the fact that this specific headline got your attention. You then got into that article and depending on how engaging the article was, you took some type of action.
You may have clicked on a link that led to another page on that site or you might have just got off. The point is, you got on it just because of the one thing that got your attention, which is the header.
How to Create a Sexy Body for your Blog Post
After your header, you would need to come up with the content. This is where you will need to get into the flow of things and let your mind do the rest. Even if it doesn’t make sense, keep going.
When I create posts, I usually create a couple of topics that I can rap about and go from there. I would create the header, then a sub-header, then another, and so forth.
Remember now, we’re forgetting about Google, so don’t even think about worrying about keywords or any of that nonsense right now. As a matter of fact, let me tell you how I get ranked with Google and why you shouldn’t worry so much about SEO. Here are a couple of things that have helped me get ranked and it continues to do the job up till this day.
- Writing for my readers
- Keyword in Header
- Keyword in first paragraph (preferably the first sentence if it can go there naturally, of course)
- Maybe a keyword in an Alt tag for a photo
Other than that, don’t worry about keyword density, or keywords in any other part of your post. Do these few steps and you will see some amazing results, trust me.
Proof Read – Dot your i’s and cross your t’s
Most bloggers worry about trying to get a post published, because it needs to be published before the day ends and this is what can hurt your blogging efforts.
Write a post, and proof read it when you’re done. You don’t need to do this right after you’re doing, because a fresh mind will only make that mediocre post better.
Take a break and come back to see what mistakes and adjustments can be made to improve this post. Again, don’t bee too quick to publish anything, the article will come together, eventually.
More and more articles are being posted without the proper editing. There are many articles that have the wrong spelling and wrong grammar, which is definitely not going to help your rankings one bit.
I don’t mean take 12 hours to proof read your content, but at least do a quick skim through it. This is a get in and get out mission, so don’t spend all day trying to make things perfect, because no one is.
Copy and Paste
There are also a lot of articles that have been copied from other sites, which won’t help with your rankings, Period. Some will be copied verbatim while other articles will only get the essence of that particular article. But you don’t have to sacrifice quality over quantity.
If you can’t sit there and talk about your topic then you are probably in the wrong niche. If you got the proper training, you would know that being passionate about your niche is going to help you a great deal. Pick something that you can go on, and on, and on about. Stop thinking about the money and you will start to see results.
I don’t care how much you think you suck at writing, your efforts will pay off, trust me. I suck at writing, but look at me? I can put together an article in no time, which is something I couldn’t do not too long ago. Practice makes perfect and that is how you will be a great writer.
Short and Simple or Long and Thorough?
This topic can be very controversial but it doesn’t have to be. Let me just say, that you can be the judge of this one. A couple of things you need to remember is
- 500 words (minimum)
- Short paragraphs
- Not too long
Longer articles would be written when you do a review on something or your article really needs to take that long to get your point across. As readers, we tend to read a little, then go off into something else, unless the article is that interesting.
Be Yourself
Most people write articles trying to be someone else and it will be really obvious. We are all unique individuals and if you don’t know this by now, you have have a unique way of talking to people. I don’t care if you are straight up boring, that is a great way to connect with your readers.
You don’t need to be some kind of stand up comedian to get your reader’s attention. If you are going to do things like a robot (copying someone else’s content) then you are going to find yourself back at your 9-5, making pennies. Be yourself and you will start to see how great of a writer you are, even if you’re not! People can see right through you!
