Just like anything out there, there is this thing called competition.  Whether you’re playing basketball or chess, there is always going to be some kind of competitive spirit that comes out.

I love it when people say, alright let’s play “just for fun”, it doesn’t matter who wins.  Yeah right, that’s a bunch of baloney to me. ‘

We are only human my friend and that is just how it’s going to be.  I’m not saying that you are going to hate someone or there is going to be animosity towards another person, but there is always going to be some type of competition, even if it’s friendly.

Same thing applies to the online world, you are going to have competition no matter what.  Best part about it is the fact that you don’t need to see them up close and personal.  Just know that there is someone on the other side of the fence that is doing what you’re doing and you will need to know how they’re doing it.

Seeing what the competition does to make it online is not a bad thing and is definitely not illegal.  I’m not talking like seeing what they do or where they get their stuff because that doesn’t matter, as long as you have the best training and coaching you should be find.

Seeing what keywords the competition is NOT using is more of what I was trying to say.  That my friend, is the proper way to do keyword research.

I love competition but let’s face it, too much comp is just too much, at least when it comes to the online world.  Unless you have been doing this for a couple of years then you will not beat out the competition, unless you have a crap load of content.  You wouldn’t be on this page if you were already getting traffic to your website.

Keyword research is a must if you plan to make it as an online marketer.  You will NOT get anywhere guessing your way through the internet, it just doesn’t happen that way.  You will need a solid keyword tool that gets results.

If you’re not getting the proper training to begin with then you might as well stop.  I don’t care how much you’ve spent, you will not get anywhere if you feel you’re getting nowhere.

Now that that’s out of the way, I want to show you a couple of things you need to understand when doing keyword research.

• They Keyword – Depending on what keyword or keyword phrase you use, it is going to be helpful to know that this little thing makes sense.  Just because you found a keyword that has good traffic and what not, doesn’t make it a good keyword.  It needs to make sense!
• Monthly Searches – This is a no-brainer.  If your keyword is not getting any searches then you have no business working with it.
• Estimated traffic –  This would be an estimate of how much traffic you will be getting for the keyword you choose.  If this number is below 1 then you need to find a better keyword.  We are looking for traffic right?
• Quoted search results (QSR) –  This would be a very important factor with any keyword ranking tool.  If you want to get good rankings in the search engine then you need a keyword then you need to know how much competition is out there.  If you have access to a QSR then you will have that much more of an advantage over the competition.  The lower the QSR, the better.
• SEO power –  If you are good at SEO then you will need to know how powerful your SEO efforts will be when using a keyword.  Here is what a solid keyword tool would look like.

If you can find the competition for these key things then you will get some good quality traffic to your site, and a free keyword ranking tool will be a good thing to have.  Look at what I found and how much traffic I can get with one little search.
