I absolutely love blogging! I do it full-time and I will never go back to a regular job thanks to the internet. For some of you, your blog might suck and it might be because of that first line I started this blog post with.
Today I want to share with you some of the reasons why my blog absolutely sucked when I first started and how I was able to get myself out of that mess.
Let’s face it, most people that start a blog trying to make money eventually quit. Here are the top 5 reasons why I think your blog absolutely sucks and how you can avoid them or fix the problem.
1.) You Worry too Much About Making Money
Big problem almost every one face when getting started. I constantly find this with most newbies and all this does is make them quit.
There are too many of you choosing niches that you really have no clue about. All you know is that it is very profitable and you want to make money.
Don’t you think that there are more then enough people (2 billion) on the internet for you to make money with any niche?
There are so many untouched niches out there that people can be making money from, but everyone and their mothers focus on the obvious.
Think outside the box and pick something you can be an expert on. Literally siit back and think about what you are really, really interested in.
If you can fix this problem and focus on my 2nd reason as to why your blog sucks, I can promise you that you will make more money.
2.) No Passion
If you’re like me and have no real hobbies, you will have a problem. If you’re like any normal person, you probably have 10 different things that you actually enjoy doing.
Running, cooking, and weight loss are some things that people find interest in, so that would be a great starting point for you.
Forget about the money and choose a niche that you are truly passionate about. If you are getting the right training for blogging, you should have no problems lining up the money with your blog.
Personally, I like helping people. Whether it’s making a list of things to tell you why your blog sucks or showing you how to make money online, I absolutely love it.
Find something that you are really interested in or want to know more about and go from there.
3.) Too Much on Your Plate
We all know this. Life happens. Whether it be your job or the kids, there is always going to be something that gets in the way of you making money online.
Just like how my son asked me to draw him something right now, is exactly what we have to deal with as bloggers.
Most of you have jobs, so you are going to have to find some time for your blog. It is a real business that you are building and that is something you need to understand.
Treat it as something different and you can expect to make nothing. If you can make time to go drinking with your friends, then you can make time for your blog.
We all have a lot going on in our lives, but if you want something bad enough, you won’t have anything to hold you back, no matter what.
4.) You’re Not Consistent
Big no no in the blogging world. If you plan to do 5 blog posts this week and then stop for another, you might as well throw in the towel.
This is one thing that I failed to understand and it has prolonged the whole money making process for me.
Set a schedule and stick to it. If you can’t blog every single day, then do yourself a favor and at least do it every other day.
If you can’t blog that much then you really need to focus on your day job because you are not going to make it in the online world.
Want to know a secret? I actually quit my job to focus on my blog. Please don’t do that. All I’m trying to tell you is that blogging is a big deal.
It has made me more income that no other job has to offer and I have all the time in the world to do whatever I want.
An article a day is not much to ask for, especially if there’s an opportunity for you to make money. No excuses.
5.) You Flat Out Really Do Suck
I didn’t say that to tell you that you need to get a real job. I say that because it’s the truth. When I first started, I can tell you that I most likely sucked more than you did.
But that didn’t stop me either. The one thing that I did, was blog more and that was what made the big difference in everything I do as a blogger.
Ever hear that nice little saying that goes something like this?
“Practice makes perfect”
Although very cliche, it is the truth and most especially as a blogger. No one is perfect and most of us don’t know what we’re doing as newbies to the online world.
The more you blog, the better you will get. Yeah you’ll be lazy and probably have a writer’s block every time you start a post, but the trick is to just write anyways.
Finish that post and be ready for another one the next day. Wash, rinse, and repeat. By your 3rd month as a blogger, I can promise you that you will be 10x better.
Welcome to Making Money!
By the time that month comes around, you, your blog, and the whole making money process will fall into place and you my friend, will be a successful blogger.
Not only will you be a better writer, but your blog will be established. This means faster rankings, better blog posts, and ultimately money in the bank.
Figure out what you’re doing wrong and fix it. There is no trick to blogging and making money, but if you work on yourself now, the rest is history. Thanks for reading and I hope I have helped you and your blog in one way or the other. Now get to work!

A Work at Home Jobs
Hi John,
These are some really great tips as to why most people end up never making any money online. I especially like no 4 and this is something that I still struggle with today. I can actually relate to almost all of these except for no 2.
I have always had a passion for online marketing for close to 20 years now. However, It took me quite some time to find the right program that offered you a step by step guide as to how affiliate marketing works. I think the reason why so many people fail to make money online is because of the 1st tip that you shared (Focusing on the money)
This is partly due to the fact that 99% of make money opportunities out there promise you that you’ll make 10,000 overnight. They brainwash you with this nonsense and when people finally get a hold of a real opportunity all they can think about is making money.
Affiliate marketing is all about helping other people and providing a solution or filling the void of what they are searching on Google. If you are successful with this the money will come soon after.
Thank you so much for sharing these helpful tips with everyone here and I know that I have learned something from this post.
Cheers
Scott
Thank you so much for the comment Scott and thanks for also sharing some amazing tips. Helping people is definitely a must if you want to make it in the online world. Focus on the money and you can consider yourself another online marketing flop. Although a very simple concept, you can easily screw things up by not applying the right principles. Thanks again for your comment man and I hope things are going absolutely great for you this year!

Hello, John I really like the part that talks about having too much on your plate. Sometimes it can be hard to find the time to blog when you have so many other things to get done. I do believe that treating it like a business is important as you said. Prioritizing is the key. Thanks for the advice.
Yeah I think everyone comes up with excuses as to why they can’t make money as a blogger. If you want it bad enough and you put in the work (one post a day) then you will be successful online. I don’t think that is asking for too much. Thanks for sharing Nichole!
