So I was asked today if affiliate marketing was worth the time and whether or not anyone can do it. Although I have many sarcastic answers to follow that question, I thought I’d keep things a little less on the smart aleck side and be somewhat professional.

First of All, What is Affiliate Marketing?

To simplify things, affiliate marketing is nothing more than taking other people’s products, getting affiliated with them, making a sell, and getting a commission.

It is really that simple and you don’t need to complicate things by trying to get technical. Sell a product for someone, make some money. The end.

The question is not what affiliate marketing is, but if it’s worth your time. There are so many myths surrounding affiliate marketing, so I thought I’d put my two cents in and tell you what I really think about affiliate marketing.

5 Reasons Why Affiliate Marketing is Worth it

I can tell you yes and no as far as being worth it, but I think with there being more reasons, I thought I’d give you the 5 reasons why I think it is well worth it in the end.

1.) You Don’t have to Own a Product

We all know that most of us don’t have the means to create our own product although there is a demand for thousands of products, whether it be online or offline.

Being that we live in this thing called the information age, the internet is the absolute best place to advertise any and every product out there.

The thing is that some of us don’t have the capital to create or manufacture something, but that’s okay. Thanks to affiliate marketing, you don’t need to deal with that.

You can literally get online, pick what product you want to become an affiliate with, and start promoting it. And yes, it is that simple.

2.) No Shipping or Dealing With Returns on Your Part

Along with owning a product, you still have to deal with shipping them out. Again, not all of us have the budget to do this type of stuff.

With affiliate marketing, the owners or retailer of these products deal with all of that. There is no going to the post office to ship out anything and there’s no having to deal with returns either.

If a customer doesn’t want the product or is not satisfied, the company will do that work. On top of that, you don’t have to ever see the customers who have just bought that product.

3.) Thousands of Products to Choose From

Affiliate marketing is a lot more convenient than you think. There is almost an affiliate program attached to every product you see online, and yes you can make money from cars too.

Ever wonder if you can make money selling products from Amazon.com? Well, there’s an affiliate program for that too.

There are so many products to choose from, but there is a way that all of this is done. I always recommend programs like the Wealthy Affiliate, which is the same program that taught me everything I know about making money online through affiliate marketing.

Being that there are thousands of products to promote on the internet, these guys will show you how to target the market that comes along with these products.

4.) You Can do it Part-time

I don’t care what your excuse may be, all of this type of marketing can be done on your time. You have a full-time job? Not a problem.

The work you put into making money online can be spread out throughout the day or you can knock it out in a couple of hours, depending on the person.

Personally, I take about 2 hours a day on my website and the rest is personal time. Being that I do this full-time, I get to make my own hours.

5.) Can You Find me a Bigger Market?

Some people say that there is too much competition in affiliate marketing. With over 2 BILLION people online every single day, how is that too competitive?

In the real world, you still have niches and markets. There is more competition out there, due to the fact that you don’t have millions of people that can possibly come through your store.

I used to run a bar and I think that is 100x more competitive than my online business. The problem with people that try to make money online, is that they think it’s some type of walk in the park.

This is just like any business out there, so if you think that it’s going to run itself, then you shouldn’t be doing any type of business for that matter.

Getting Started

Being a successful affiliate marketer is more on what you know about the business and not who is telling you how it’s done.

I can admit that there are thousands of people that quit, but that only means that the competition is getting slimmer.

Get the right training and put yourself around the right people and I can promise you that you are just another success story away.
