Welcome to my Jerky Direct review!
Do you like jerky?
You know, dried meats, high in protein, low in calories, in an easy to transport and convenient package?
Do you like it enough to sell it?
This is the question that people considering a job at Jerky Direct must ask themselves.
If you are not familiar with the company, Jerky Direct is an MLM (multi level marketing) that gives people with the entrepreneurial spirit the opportunity to make some side money selling delicious dried meats for a commission.
It sounds fun right? But with MLMs there are a lot of things to consider before you hop on board. After all, you don’t want to get yourself tangled up in a scam, do you? Of course not, and we are here to make sure that that doesn’t happen.
We have taken a close look at how Jerky Direct works, and assembled a guide that should help you to determine if it is worth your time.
So, What is Jerky Direct?
Jerky Direct is an MLM that began in the year 2004. This alone is pretty nice to see actually, because it suggests that there is a solid interest in the company and the products that they sell (which is always advantageous for people that intend to sell said products).
The fee to start selling Jerky Direct products is $14.95, which is also very nice to see. In the world of MLMs entry level fees can get pretty stiff, costing up to several thousand dollars to get started.
Once you pay the fee, you can start selling customers products from the product line (which we will examine in a minute). You are also encouraged to recruit new affiliates, and are a rewarded with bonuses for doing so.
While this is always a somewhat problematic business model in that it does resemble the operation of a pyramid scheme, there is a critical difference: namely, product. In a pyramid scheme there is generally no product or service rendered.
Money circulates by the head of the scheme to promote the illusion of growth, while simultaneously pocketing the majority of revenue.
The MLM also depends on fees and recruitments, but provides affiliates with actual earning opportunities, and deals in real products or services.
Speaking of products:
What Will You Be Selling?
As the name suggests, Jerky is the name of the game at Jerky Direct. But, we aren’t just talking about run of the mill stuff that you can get at the checkout counter of a gas station. This is the top shelf sort of jerky that people will (hopefully) be willing to pay a little bit extra to get their hands on.
The first thing that customers will hopefully appreciate about these products is that they are designed to be all natural.
Jerky from the Jerky Direct benefits from featuring no preservatives, no added MSG, no nitrites, no erythorbate, and no artificial ingredients. They also strive to subject the food to most minimal level of processing possible to really ensure that the jerky is as healthy as possible.
They presently have several flavors to choose from ,including Natural Chicken Jerky, Fruit Stix, Natural Turkey Jerky, Organic Beef Jerky, and more.
If there is one problem with the products it is that they are priced considerably higher than regular store bought jerky. While a bag of jerky at the grocery store might cost you five or six dollars, at Jerky Direct it is going to cost around $18.
This may not be a disqualifying factor when you consider the organic components to this product, but it may make it a little bit challenging to sell.
The good news is that if the people that you sell to do like the product that you are selling, it may be easy to build a regular base of repeat customers.
At the end of the day, even despite the inordinately high price, the products at Jerky Direct will work to the sale associates favor. Quality makes a big difference in the world of MLMs, and there is certainly plenty of it here.
The Comp Plan
As mentioned earlier, you make money at Jerky Direct through two ways. The first is by selling lots of products and enjoying the commission. The second is by recruiting new associates and getting awarded a bonus.
Unfortunately, the latter method is where the bulk of the money is at, and that makes things a little bit of a challenge. While recruiting is a pretty common component of the MLM it is also a dreaded and very uncomfortable component.
Essentially, your job becomes to convince other people to start a new job. Never a very easy task in general, especially if they are savvy enough to realize that if they do take the job, their duty will be to start signing people up as well.
Even if you are comfortable with recruiting, you should also realize that this isn’t a gig that is going to make you wealthy. While there is no direct data out there for how much Jerky Direct Affiliates make, the typical MLM associate is only brining in a few hundred dollars a year from that income stream.
Does that mean you shouldn’t bother trying?
Of course not!
But it does mean that you should keep your expectations in check, and hope that you are the exception rather than the rule.
Final Verdict: Legit
So, what is the verdict? If you liked what you saw here, you should be pleased to hear that we do not think that Jerky Direct is a scam.
The company has been in business for a while now, and their business only seems to be improving, which indicates that there is something to it.
Does that mean that it is the perfect opportunity for you? As is true with any MLM the answer to that question is maybe, maybe not. Don’t forget that even if you loved the products offered, the easiest way to make money at Jerky Direct is to get other people to join up.
If that doesn’t interest you, or you aren’t comfortable making money that way, you probably arne’t going to want to get onboard with this company.
On the other hand, if the opportunity still appeals to you, then by all means go for it!
What I Really Think
MLM is not a bad gig but let’s face it.
It is just not for everyone.
If your’e like me and you thought that MLM was the only way out of the 9-5 grind, then I have some great news for you.
There is another way.
Thanks to this thing called affiliate marketing, you are able to make money online without having to recruit a single person.
Yup, no recruiting whatsoever.
We’re talking real products that you don’t need to even own yourself.
I know it sounds amazing and you can learn more here to see how you can start a real online business.
Other than that, I hope this Jerky Direct review has given you more than enough information to make a smarter decision on your part.
I am a huge fan of Beef Jerky but I’m not willing to spend that much and get others to join me just so I can make money.
But hey, that’s just me and maybe you might think otherwise.
