Blogging is not just writing. It is something that requires interaction with your readers to share different interests that you and others may have. You are not writing just to provide information but to share your personal experiences, which makes this type of writing fun.
You build a relationship with others by encouraging interaction. It is like keeping an online diary but this time, not for your eyes only.
Blogging is for Everyone
Building a blog is something that you and everyone else can do. It has been a steady trend for a couple of years now and it won’t be going away anytime soon, if it ever does.
The one thing people don’t understand is that there is a lot (and I mean a lot) of money to be made from something so simple as a blog.
Another thing that makes it so incredible, is that it is a business, and it does not take the amount of money you would pay to start a physical business. Click here to see the same program that started me for free.
The accessibility of the internet today makes it even easier for people to start writing and building websites. I have built a couple and I want to show you how to do the same.
Why do People Blog?
I know you know it. You can make money from blogging. This is the most wonderful thing that blogging can give you. However, a lot of people think, especially those who are planning to start an online career, that blogging is the best way to achieve a steady flow of income.
Actually yes, it can be. But you should not blog if your only goal is to make money.
Though you can possibly make good money out of blogging and there are lots of successful bloggers out there who have made it their main source of income, it is not something that should substitute your full-time job or be the your only source of earnings if you are a beginner.
If you want this to be possible, then you should know that it will take a long process. If you lose interest along the way, then your blog will just be one of those sites no one knows about.
Blogging is also a way to entertain yourself and others. Interesting blogs use funny and amusing images and videos then share it to social media like Facebook to attract more blog visitos. Some people blog for recreation or to satisfy and express their creative side.
Tips for Newbie Bloggers
1. Know your Ultimate Goal
Being aware of what you want to achieve on your blog is the first step. Do you want it to be a source of fun for readers, or maybe promote an organization or business? Set short and long term goals. In that way, you know what to focus on and you can work towards the improvement of your blog to achieve exactly what you want.
2. Build a website – The Right Way
Choose between paid or free web hosting services to build your website. Decide on the domain or name of your blog. Start creating your layout and design depending on what look you want to achieve.
For beginners, starting a blog using free website builder is your best approach. It will let you design your website easily as pre-made decorative themes are available. You may also hire a web designer if you want more unique and complex designs.
3. Writing Styles
Writing is the key to success with any blog. The more content and frequent updates, means more money for you. There is a way things need to be done with your writing, so always keep that in mind.
Blogging uses a conversational form of sentence construction. First person is most likely to be used because blogs are more of sharing personal experiences and opinion. It is just like talking to a friend.
The content is very important to any website. Whatever your purpose is for creating a blog, make it engaging and always keep your posts up to date.
4. Focus on one topic
Expert bloggers tend to work on different areas of interests, meaning you can find more than one topic on their site. Bloggers who are more established may blog about travel, food, and fashion in one website.
For beginners who are planning to earn money over time, it is better to focus on one niche. This way, you can be more precise in targeting audience. This will help you build a name and an area of expertise in the blogging industry.
Once you gained visitors, you may start adding more pages to your blog to tackle other topics. Your existing audience can help you draw more readers.
5. Use catchy words
The secret is to think of appealing titles for your posts. Make people so curious about it that they couldn’t help but scroll down to the very end of your post.
6. Pictures Say a Thousand Words
I know this may sound very cliche, but it definitely applies to blogs as well. I mean, who really wants to see nothing but words?
Make your blog post visual, by putting appealing pictures related to your topic. Original pictures are always the best, but you can find some free ones if you do your research.
If you were running a blog about running and shoes, you might want to have a pic of some nice running shoes right? Your readers will get what it is that you are talking about, just from a photo.
7. Make it personal
If your blog is about your travel escapades and adventures, post pictures of you taking a trip or doing the most extreme activity you experienced during that trip.
This is why I always recommend choosing something that you are passionate about. If you don’t like what you’re talking about, you will get stumped along the way.
8. Make it easy to read
Don’t make long sentences and paragraphs that may bore your readers. Be direct to the point and always tell the truth.
Just like I did with this post, I spread out all my texts, because we just don’t like to read big blocks of texts. Give your readers some space and don’t bore them with globs of content.
9. Focus on One Blog
I made the mistake of trying to run two blogs at the same time. For beginners, you always want to focus on one blog, until you’re making some good money, then you can hop into another niche.
Once you have money flowing in, you can always start on another one, and maybe even hire a writer. I always recommend Onlinejobs.ph, which you can get for a really good price, with great writing talent.
10. Build rapport by interacting with your audience
Encourage interaction by answering their questions, thanking them, or mentioning their name. The reason why they are on your site is because they find your blog interesting so be grateful and show appreciation.
Just like how I’m going to end this post, you need to do the same. Comments are a big deal and you will also boost your SEO rankings, if you have constant engagement on your blog.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this article and hopefully I’ve helped you understand a little more about blogging and how to do it effectively.
