Blogging is something that has got me out of my 9-5 and has done a lot of life changing things to my life. Today I want to show you how I was able to create a successful blog, even if I am not the best writer in the world.
If you know my history, you would not think that I have evolved into some type of online marketing type of person, especially with my military background.
If I can make money online, I know anyone can do the same. Here are some tips to help you get started, so you too can create a successful blog of your own.
1. Choose Something You are Passionate About
Too many people try to do something because they see that it is profitable. Every niche is profitable, as long as there are products associated with that niche that allows you to make money.
The reason I say choose something you are passionate about, is the fact that you are going to be talking about this topic for the lifespan of your blog.
Choose something that you have no clue about and you will have that much more trouble trying to push out articles related to that topic.
2. Worry About The Money Last
I know it’s easier said than done, but just know that you are not going to make any money the minute you publish one post.
With all the changes Google has made, they are now looking for quality content rather than all the nonsense that used to rank in the search engines.
The money will come! I like to treat it like shooting a rifle. you have to let it surprise you, so don’t keep checking your stats to see if you made a sale, because if your’e one month into your blog, chances are that you didn’t make squat.
3. Treat it Like a Business (Because it is)
A lot of the time, people think that blogging is just a hobby or some type of way to talk about your personal life. In reality, it really is, but treat it that way and that’s how you’ll run a blog that isn’t successful.
For most, this is also the reason why they are stuck not making any money. It always takes the result for anyone to really push their blogging effort and start treating it like a real business.
4. Invest
In this type of business or any business for that matter, you are going to have to invest. You will need to spend money and you will need to spend time.
Running a blog doesn’t require much time, but just like anything else, you get what you put in. So if you plan on putting in 1 hour a week, don’t expect to get the best results.
If you think you can do this on own, just expect to get nowhere. There is a lot more to blogging than just building a website and throwing some content on it.
5. Get the Right Training
Most people think they can do this on their own, due to the fact that they don’t want to invest or they are worried about scams.
I can promise you that you will not find a cheaper business to run that what you will spend on creating your own blog.
I have learned everything at a place called the Wealthy Affiliate and it has made all the difference between me running a mediocre blog to a successful one.

6. Brand Yourself
When choosing a domain name (www.yourdomainname.com) for your blog, I always suggest branding yourself. I don’t mean choosing a domain name that has your actual name in it, but choosing something that you actually like and stands out.
Back in the day, exact domain matches used to work like magic. It’s not so much the case these days and they don’t rank as easy as they used to, so this is another reason why branding is your best route.
7. Be Consistent
When I say be consistent, that doesn’t mean to blog every single day. However, I do suggest you stick with some type of schedule.
If you can only blog twice a week, so be it. Just don’t blog today, 2 weeks later, and then the day right after. Get on some type of schedule and stick with it.
8. Scale Your Business
This is where things start to get fun and finally start to feel like you’re running a legitimate business. Once you make that first dollar, it’s all about scaling and making more of those dollars.
This is the time when you can start worrying about the money. Now you can start figuring out the best and most efficient ways to monetize your blog.
Keyword research and other aspects of running a successful blog is done in this part of your business. See what I mean about “get the right training”?
9. Always Help Your Readers
See how I just helped you here? That is exactly what you need to do with your own blog. I don’t care if you’re talking about dogs or running a blog, they are all done the same way.
You always want to help your readers no matter what. People are “Googling” solutions to their problems, so give them what they are looking for.
10. Do Not Give Up
Don’t be one of the many that give up right before success due to the fact that thy aren’t making any money.
For me, it took me about 3 months to make my first sale. Once I forgot about the money and just blogged like I knew I had to, the money eventually came.
Get Your Blog on
Every single one of your articles count towards your overall blog, so don’t think that every post you publish needs to make you money in some way, because it’s not done that way.
Although making money is our ultimate goal, remember that there is someone reading your content on the other end and not some type of robot.
Follow these tips and there is no reason why you can’t create a successful blog of your own. Remember now, worry about the money last, help people, and everything else will fall into place. Cheers!
