Sleazy Money: A Cautionary Tale on How to Avoid the Cash Machine Scam

When I was a child, I had insomnia. Now that I am an adult, I still have insomnia, but I can actually stay up and be much more productive with my evenings. I can get out of bed, check my email, make myself a midnight snack, for just a few examples.

But, alas, as a child, i did not have such luxury and was often forced to watch TV quietly in the dark until the wee hours in the morning (or until I got so exhausted I would literally pass out from boredom, whichever would come first).

And, as a proud child of the 80’s and teen of the 90’s there was one surefire program guaranteed to be on television at any given point between the hours of Midnight and 3 to 4 a.m.

And no, I’m not talking about phone lines, either.

You guessed it. The dreaded infomercial. Where everyone in the audience was constantly either nodding their head in agreement or shaking their head in disbelief. The product came in a vast array of various products ranging anything from kitchen utensils to miracle cleaning supplies. But my personal favorite was somewhere in between.

How to get rich fast.

Oh, how I spend so many sleepless nights watching someone I’d never meet from a country I’d likely never visit telling me how he’s been where I am and he just wants to help me be the best person I can…by being a millionaire.

How my young brain did ponder the possibility of getting rich quick, buying my family a new house, sports cars, the most expensive and delicious foods…

if only I had that deposit of a mere $100 I could start making thousands and I could get started today!

Well, I’m grown now. Yes, I still have insomnia, and yes, I’d love to “get rich quick” (who wouldn’t!), but, as happens, I have learned that this is not as easily attained as late night TV once had me to believe. But, although infomercials may still be around, the concept of easy money is alive and thriving quite well…right here…on this very screen.

Now instead of late night TV, I have limitless bandwidth of information telling me that if I sign up for just $49 right now for EasyMoneyMachine.com, why, I too can be a financially sound millionaire like it’s creator, one Michael Fox.

Well, I can assure you, Mr. Fox, had I $49 to spend, it would be on food and not a virtual nameless virtual corporation.

But I’m afraid the Fox is not done with me yet. He feels for me. He understands my struggle. So, by trying desperately to escape from his feature length film of an add, he will not just cut the price in half, but he’s so confident that he can make me money that he’s going to give it to me…for free!

Well, I’m no sucker! How can I pass up “free” for making money? Obviously I’m going to sign right up and get this show on the road. Get my sports car and mansion warmed up, Foxy because I’m coming for it! But you know what, let me just see what others have to say about this endeavor.

Could this be a scam?

Do you just want to MAKE my money, you sly Fox, or do you want me FOR my money?

So, one quick Google search later and…there it is…

…at least 100 other people with the exact same flyer and add wanting to sell ME the exact thing I’m already buying. No reviews. No 5, 4, 3, or 2 stars. Just a lot of flashy adds and “MAKE MONEY NOW!” banners.

What is a guy to do?

Curiosity compels me, especially when it’s late (have I mentioned I have insomnia), so I go ahead. I click your link to sign up, and what do I find?

An offer to build me a website to assist in my money making adventure.

Why, all I have to do is pick one of 5 topics, follow the link, and from there my completely 100% free money making cash machine is only going to cost me…

…$268.75.

Not $45. Not $25. Not free.

$268.75. And all I have to do is…well, to be honest, that part is not entirely clear.

After a well over an hour long video, numerous testimonials, and hundreds of other people trying to sell me the same product, I still have absolutely no idea exactly what it is that I am supposed to do.

And, no, I’m sorry, but your email about a week later saying you still have $8000 isn’t going to convince me either.

The bottom line is this: the only way to get rich quick is to be born into money.

That’s it.

Okay, and maybe win the lottery.

Because if you honestly think stuffing some envelopes with flyers and sending them out into the world in hopes of getting a little extra cash is going to make your dreams come true, you may as well save your money and just play the power ball because the lottery is your better chance of making anything substantial.

With a website that gives no clear direction, no real numbers to back up any claims, and absolutely zero guarantees and/or refunds, you’d have better luck getting an inheritance from a rich great uncle you never knew existed until he died and left you a million dollars.

There ARE in fact ways to make money online, but cash machines are not one of them. I used a program called Wealthy Affiliate, and that is what has allowed me to finally work from home full-time.

Every few years they change their name, start a new company with a slightly different sales pitch, and sit back and wait for desperate people to take desperate measures. That’s it.

So do yourself a favor, try to avoid Online Cash Machines at all costs. If making that much money were that easy, don’t you think we’d all be millionaires? Just remember, these people are professionals who will prey on any weakness just to get ahead.

So the next time you find yourself up late watching TV or browsing the web and you see an ad to make fast money, just ask yourself what they want in return.

Chances are, it’s more than you can afford…

I guarantee it.
