Blogging is something that most people don’t understand and the competition is one of them. Although there is competition that doesn’t mean it is always a bad thing. I don’t care what niche you choose, you are always going to have competition, some a little more than the other but there are certain things that will put you above the rest and I am going to share them with you.
1.) Create Content Regularly
Creating content is the biggest thing that most bloggers DO NOT understand. Creating content regularly doesn’t mean writing one article a month, especially if you have a fairly new blog. Good and unique blog posts is what will get your blog to be successful and you will start to see results.
If you are going to write about photography then you would need to create articles focused on that niche. It doesn’t have to be about one thing because that niche can be broken down into different topics. With this niche, you can do reviews on different types of cameras and get ranked with ease if you create content regularly. The more the merrier my friend.
2.) Understand the Basics of SEO
SEO is a big part of blogging but it is not that complicated. Some people know exactly how SEO works but they worry too much about SEO that they tend to forget that they need more content. Just because someone posts one great article on a specific thing, what makes them trustworthy? Creating content is a big part of SEO and is something that will help with your rankings.
Understanding the basics of SEO will take you a long way and will make your blog that much more credible. Here is a basic SEO course and this is all you would need to get better rankings within the search engines.
- Keyword in title
- Keyword in H tags (especially the H3 tag)
- Create content regularly
- Alt tag in photo
If you use this basic SEO tips then you should be able to get ranked in the search engine, as long as you have CONTENT. Content is the biggest contributing factor when it comes to SEO so keep up with the blogging. You DO NOT need any type of SEO plugin to master SEO my friend.
3.) Understand Keyword Research
Keyword research is something that most bloggers seem to overlook. They aim too much at using keywords that have too much competition which of course is going to be hard to rank with. Keyword research is going to be a very critical part of your blog so find keywords that will rank fairly easily without any competition.
There are different keyword tools that can help you in this department and you should get the one that suits you best. I personally use a keyword tool called Jaaxy because it does a lot more than just find me low competition keywords. They actually have 30 free keyword searches which you can use in the mean time. Give Jaaxy a shot and see how it can help you with your blog.
4.) Blog Like a Human
When people try to make sales rather than interact with their readers then things just start to look weird. Remember that there is an actual person on the other end of your post that is looking for some useful information or something to buy. If you sound like a robot then you will see where that gets you.
Once you get the hang of blogging regularly and reaching out to your readers like a real person then you will see how amazing your blog is. It took me a while before I even understood how to blog like a champ but look at me now! You can do the same if you use these blogging tips with your blog.
5.) Engage with your Readers
Most people create blog posts worrying too much about making money. Sometimes you are going to have to create content without trying to sell something. Remember this, more traffic leads to better rankings, which leads to more sales. Make sense?
The more you engage with your audience, the more they will leave comments and share your blog posts on their social networks. This will allow those posts that you try to sell something on a better ranking and of course can be found simply by someone stumbling upon it.
6.) Blog with a Passion
Blogging should be something that you enjoy and are very passionate about. When I started “blogging” I really had no clue as to how it really was done. I remember when I did my first post, I would check Google and see if I ranked #1 and also how much traffic I was getting. I’m pretty sure you know what I saw, a big fat ZERO!
Anyone would tell you, blog about something you enjoy and are very passionate about. This will allow you to flow about whatever it is you are talking about and the rankings and sales will eventually come later. This is not a get rich overnight thing so put in the little effort needed to be a successful blogger and you will start to see results.
